Competition diet to complement a plyometrics / aerobic approach to training

I just started working w/ a guy who focuses on things like core strength training & plyometrics. My goal is to cut down for an NPC figure show in 8 weeks. Its an agressive schedule but I'm gonna see what I can do w/ it. Muscle is an issue - need to drop some or reshape what I have. I'd expect to drop about 20 lb & 10% bf to go on stage at 5'7", 140 lb, 9-10% bf. (Note some of the weight would be the carb deplete & water deplete the last week)

The training is different from my typical contest prep because I'm going from BB to figure and have a lot of mass already. But really need to streamline & drop the bodyfat. Also had some soft tissue problems w/ a rotated pelvis a year ago -- Straight weight training tends to aggravate my lower back & the tight connection to my hams that resulted so very interested in using the concepts around pilates & plyometrics to work that just for improved health.

So my question is how do you (or do you?) change a typical competition diet to match a higher rep / more aerobic training regimen? Any comments, thoughts, questions, suggestions welcome! This is a new experiment for me & I'm planning to be very aggressive about it for the next 2 months.

Thx!

You are quite right that this is totally different, yet basically the same. I have a couple friends who did this, switched from bb competition to figure.

As you state, they both did the same type workout you are addressing, but stayed with a bb competition style diet. Very high protein, high fats, low carbs. Caloric decreases as needed.

One of them competed in the same show I did in May. She placed second(got robbed if you ask me). But she did great.

So maybe there's really no change? I'm thinking I might keep the protein down a little - I guess I'll really have to see how much energy I have to match the training demands.

I appreciate the input :)

Agreed. The different routine doesn't warrant radical changes to the diet. The only major difference, other than not needing to cut calories quite as much since you'll be burning a bit more with this workout regimen, would be timing/amount of carbs depending on how/whether depletion workouts fit into your prepraration.

Thanks for the refocus. I"m still waiting to get my complete schedule, but I think its going to be on me to create an appropriate diet to support it. I haven't done heavy aerobic stuff in a long time so I'm not sure if I'll see a change in carb requirement. The protein I was wondering about in order to watch the total cals. But sounds like its still pretty simple :)
