Cardio Question

I have a 5 week old son I am findiing time to lift 1 hour each day, but I can't seem to get the cardio in. I used to go to a gym, but they only accept babies that are 7 months old.

Will dancing for 30 minutes 3x a week work. My son loves to be in my arms when I am prancing around a room.

I'm desperate... Or does anyone have any other suggestions for cardio that involves a baby?

I got myself a jogger stroller for my baby and is still being used 4 years later. Baby gets fresh air and a change of scenery while you get your cardio. I think you need to wait until baby is 6 weeks old, though.

Or you could get some exercise videos or DVDs from www.collagevideo.com . Cathe Friedrich has advanced tapes so you might want to look into her stuff and build up to her eventually. I managed to get a good cardio workout while my baby was asleep or just watching me from the crib. I also like the Firm because of the high reps with weights - as if I am in the gym.

Or you can invest in some other equipment like a stationary bike, elliptical trainer, or treadmill. I have a treadmill and bike and use them when my kids are asleep or in school. Yup, get that cardio in any way you can!! :D

You can do cardio in a 2 x 2 closet if you wanted, you don't need machines and gyms and tapes, but they help keep your mind occupied and your pace constant.

I dunno if the kind of dancing you need is safe to do while holding a baby. I prance around with my bunnies and that certainly doesn't make me sweat.

Cindy Crawford II !!! I know, sounds silly, but I actually used THIS workout to replace a SPRINT workout on bad weather days. It's interval style, and kicks some serious ARSE...until you get used to it.

We used to do those after school in like jr high! Radu! I had 5 lb dumbbells and my friend had 3 and she kept saying the 5's were too HEAVY!

cardio tapes are a good idea. Just skip the "toning" at the end. Go to www.videofitness.com to get reviews of them before you buy. I like The Firm tapes (I was doing them before I started going heavy on the weights). Be warned, however, many Firm tapes require equipment.
