broke rt. hand knucklez..training around problem?!?!

I went through alomst the exact same situation as you bro. A heated discussion turned into my fist flying into my dorm room door. Unlike you, however, I just had a minor sprain.

Thaibox has given you some solid advice. Stick with the 3 core excercises and, like you said, do shitloads of cardio. Along with clomid, start supplementing with creatine @ 10 grams per day. Since your a friend of the bitch boy (Mike PT) chances are you know what you are doing when it comes to diet. Just stay positive and remember that muscle memory is an amazing thing.

I pretty much agree with everything Thaibox said. I'll also add depending on the gym you train at there are a shitload of machines that don't require you to use your hands. Everyone goes through and injury point at some point in their training, there's no way around it. Deal with it.

i like the ideas above...this has never happened to me, but if it did i would concentrate on diet most of all. good luck...and next time kick the thing instead of punching it :)

I would think you can find alot of options. All those machines you have passed by for years before because they were too wimpy may be beneficial now. As far as pushing movements you may be ok with a false grip (I don't know as I have never broken any knuckles) but like Thaibox said for any pulling motions you may need to get the wrist hooks. I think you will find that the variations will you undergo training wise may make you a better athelte in the long run by perhaps broadening your outlook on the way you train. Good luck.

Did you confirm it was broken? With an injury to your hand it is important to have it set and let it heal properly or it will plague you forever. I have broke my hand a few times, once was punching a tackling sled, the two bones between my pinky and ring finger and my wrist broke and were laying on top of each other. If you just have some cartlidge damage you should be ok in a few days. I busted a knuckle a month ago on someone's face and it did not affect my training at all. It hurt to put my hand in my pocket though. So what is it? Broken bones or swollen joint?

..fractured metacarpal..

guyz thanks so much for your concern...i trained today and since i am a part-time employee at a chain corporate, expensive-membership gym i have access to every piece of top-brand equipment, suana, and cardio stations...anyways, i used "freemotion" machines for my shoulders today..placing most the force between my thumb and index finger as i grip the handles..felt awkward but workable...i still had a great workout by supersetting chest with shoulders for like 9-10 supersets..and did some cardio afterwards..definitely a weird yet satisfying training regimine..hopefully it works out for the best

to satan: i went to the E.R. right after work that night when the wall attacked me:p "fractured metacarpal" i saw the xrays and i can see lil white lines on both knuckles..so this isnt a normal "jammed" finger like you can get while playin basketball and the ball lands on your finger ( i had that shitload of times when i was younger)...but yeah im workin my way aroud it and im scheduled to see an orthopedic dr tomorrow(10/16) since they dont have orthopedics durin small ER emergencies late at night...yeah, this shit better not set in all fucked up or i'll be pissed if my hand looks like a gimp's...

A little advice

I broke the shit out of my hand about four weeks ago. I was drunk and pissed off because of a bitch of course and I punched a solid wood door. Needless to say the door won. I went to the doctor and got an x-ray, they said that I broke the fifth metacarpul of my hand. Otherwise known as a BOXER'S FRACTURE. Anyway I was pissed, but I did not let that stop me from my workouts I was in the gym two days later and have not stopped since.
All that I changed in my routine were the things that were just absolutely too painful to do. Such as dumbbell military press. By the way they said for this type of break that they don't usually do casts, so I got a brace made out of that heat moldable plastic. It was pretty gay actually but it saved me whenever I would hit it on something. But today, my hand is pretty good but it did not heal that great but it gives me no pain and I can lift as good as before. Hope that this info helps you out!!
