I would say yes to both. I have that much to invest, i was thinking put about 20-30,000 towards my daughter then the rest to make money with.

20-30,000 that will pay about 3 years of college..good start

yeah it is just a round about number maybe more maybe less. I just know by putting that money in the bank it does us no good, the interest rate is a joke

I'm all for investing but Monday is the day before the election and MAY be bad timing. Also, shouldn't you wait until you know exactly what you want to do before taking a plunge like that?


IMO 4 or 5 mutual funds. One international and the others in Vangaurd index of the rest of the US market. Reallocate once a year. Simple, you sleep at night, easy to keep track of, and it will beat 80% of the multimillionaire money managers out there.


It's not sexy.... but it IS when it turns into money. Money is sexy!

Very good point about the election. When I say investing on Monday I mean I am going to meet my adviser, what happens from there is undecided. To be honest I am the type of guy just to invest in CDs and what not no real money to speak of besides some small things for life insurance/retirement.

This is a whole new world to me and i know some of you guys have money here and there so i thought I would shoot it out there
