Boxing while taking Glutamine and Protein Shakes

New Jack

New member
If I'm into a rigorous boxing regimen where I am training for an amateur fight (running for miles 2x wk, sprints 2x wk, weightlifting 2x wk, plenty of sparring, bag/mit work, jump rope, good diet, plenty of water, etc.) will taking glutamine and a protein shake daily help me or is it a waste?

The reason I ask this is because I am only lifting 2x a week. I am already taking a multi vitamin.

1) Does glutamine help in recovery for doing alot of cardio or just recovery in lifting?

2) Is it a waste of time to take glutamine and protein shakes daily if I'm only lifting 2x a week?

Thanks in advance.

Glutamine is a great Every day supplement. Try 5-15g daily (and make sure to take it with a protein shake or on an empty stomach, as taking it with food destroys it). It's also good to take before bed (rumored to have GH boosting properties).

You can find glutamine cheapest on the net, but I'm not sure what site would have it the very cheapest.

This is good advice food does not destroy glutimine, but if taken with a meal the intestine will utilize the majority of the glutimine and little will be left for muscle building and recovery. All boxers should add creatine to their daily supplement routine. The reason being that recent studices indicate that creatine lessens the severity of head truma and reduces risk of concussion and brain injury. It also is a very good supplement for muscle strength and endurence.
