BJJ dominated???? thats news to me, and probably news to people like Chuck Liddell, Silva, CroCop, etc.

You need both to be truly well rounded. Don't discount plain old western wrestling either.

i was talking about the first UFC, before Silva(eve tho hes BJJ), Cro cop and Lidell. But just for the record i love both boxing and muay thai and olympic wrestling was the 1st combat sport that i did.

it's interesting seeing everyone make thier judgements based on what they ses in UFC/K1...

Now in a street fight with no rules , what style would you like best

whoooo, i knew it was gunna boil down to this, i personally would rather a combo boxing+muay thai (yes i have been in may streetfights, and i mean between 1-3 on 1 and no weapons). Now i know the 1st UFC's favoured the Graices slightly, but BJJ still showed of TMA hardasses what real deal was.

yes, you are correct to say that even the UFC does not imitate a true street fight for the fact there are 'rules'. This being said, I would stick with a striking sport, and PUNCH FIRST when encountered.

I just don't see where you would want to go immediately to the ground in a true street fight on a road, concrete, etc. I'm not saying that a fight never goes to the ground, BUT if you can end it with a couple punches, I think that is the best way.

Bullshit , man .

The fact is that BJJ IS a TMA . It has Belts , Codified Techniques , A Gi , It COMPLETELY IGNORES an ENTIRE RANGE of Combat (wait , TWO Ranges , actually) Techniques named in a funny Ferrin language , it takes 10 years to get a Black Belt ... Its a bloody TMA , And it always has been !

Secondly when your "BJJ Guy" has over 20 years of Training and , well , everyone else has less than ten , thats whats going to happen , the guy that LIVES in the Dojo - Was BORN in the Dojo along with all his BROTHERS , SISTERS , COUSINS , AND SECOND COUSINS is going to stand out . The YMCA Instructors are going to fall to the wayside . The only thing that ANY UFC has EVER "Proved" is that it takes a LONG TIME to become good at Martial ARrts , just like anything else .

Any System or School that Trains (Realistically) to a San Shou/San Da/Lei Tai Ruleset .

Xingyiquan
Taijiquan
Baguazhang
Praying Mantis
Bajiquan
Wushu (yup , I said it , ALL the best San Da fighters are Wushu ppl , bet you didnt know that !)

Why ? They know how to use the Ground as a weapon . They know how to Throw and how to topple their Opponents and they know how to fight in the Kicking , Punching and Clinch ranges . THey know how to Control Space and now not to be Bullied about (Get tossed off the Lei Tai and its Over)

I'll keep my .45 locked and loaded and let everyone else worry about who would win. In a street fight with no rules - he who hits first and hits hardest will win.

Taijiquan? hahah yeh Tai Chi is awesome for fighting, good one. I was under the impression Fedor was the best fighter in the world at the moment, looks like i was wrong, its those old chinese ladys in the park.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that when the UFC first started there were no gloves, there were no time limits and there were only 2 rules, no biting and no eyegouging, yes the ground was padded but if you get slammed down hard enough you'll get knocked out anyway. Are people trying to say that some 5 style animal kung fu didn't win because they couldn't bite and poke eyes?
