I have freinds who are into it and all I do is listen to that crap. My point is if almost anyone can kick out them beats (and with programs like Fruity Loops they can) then exactly WHERE does the talent lie?? The more I hear rap the more every damn beat sounds the same. I mean walk into the projects every damn kid you seen can rap as good as any of the famous guys since its so damn easy to do. Its just a way for no talent people to pipe up and say "Yo foo you don't kno what you be talkin bout and shit"
Hell pick up a guitar and try to learn to play that, its alot easier for a machine to make your music for you trust me

i've read the thread and the link. Still agree with Talonracer...heck...There is a HUGE amount of coordination that goes into playing a guitar. Especially playing it well. Anyone can press buttons...I have played guiat for a year and a half and i still have a very long way to go. My reasoning is that if i put all my hours of practice into playing beats i could kick some serious ass but now on the guitar. Like i said "a long way to go"

Pikey: playing a guitar and using a sampler well are two totally different concepts. . . for example co-ordination is almost close to non-existant in electronic music (with the exception of Chemical Brothers and the likes) as u don't play live.

The skills come in other forms like breakbeat science, compression skills, mixdown styles, good ears for melodies, and most importantly knowing how to push your hardware to the limits.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can't compare apples and oranges.

I've heard a lot of people play guitar and mymic the best there is out there, it's an aquired tallent just like anything else. Rappers aren't musicians and don't pretend to be. It's the lyrics that make others stand above the rest. I listen to anything myself Sevendust, Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz as well as my favorite which is rap. Good music is good music period, doesn't matter what you like. When you hear a good song no matter what you listen to it's a good song. They don't call musicians artists for nothing.
