As someone who actually lives in the Denver area I am appauled at this. Next will be rotties, then all large breed dogs, so we are all going to have to get fucking poodles and chihuahuas until they get snippy. This is just the start once a couple of cities do this your city will be next in line, fuck this pisses me off. I know lots of people that have pitbulls and none of them has ever had any kind of an incident with their dogs doing anything bad. Most of the people who have been injured by a dog (including me) had it done by a german shepard, but oh no, no one wants to control that.

Dear Denver City Council,
Your city's ban on pitbulls is downright ridiculous. The level of ignorance that must plague your coumcil meetings baffles me. To ban a dangerous animal is completely understandable... but to make the generalization that "pitbulls" are dangerous is STUPID. You need to look past the statistics... they are almost all skewed. There are a gazillion types of dogs all uncategorically included in the "pitbull" breed, there are also an unknown amount of mixes that should be in your data... your bite statistics ( I GUARANTEE) do not count the total population size to include all these breeds and mixes, and it is therefore a VERY much larger % than it should be. Instead, you have made your decision based on skewed statistical data and made your entire state look downright ignorant. I, as a result of your ban, will be selling my home in aspen and finding a new vacation spot. I do not want ANY of my money going to your state government if it is going to support such measures. I have owned Staffordshire Terriers my whole life (yet another breed that has been roped into your pooch'icidal decision) they are loving, loyal creatures that have ZERO desire to do anything but make people and other animals happy. Why in god's name haven't you banned rottweilers? How about Malimutes, Great Danes, hell, any dog over 50 lbs has lethal force if it wants to. You guys need to target the owners in these violent dog situations. To believe that any dog is inherently violent is just dumb. Do you also think that African Americans are genetically prone to crime? After all, the statistics support that they are more often involved in violent crime... so it must be true right?
Why don't you punish owners? I would have NOTHING against owners getting felony charges for dog attacks. That way you guys can discourage people to get large dogs... and weed out the people who don't have the time to properly raise their dogs. Obviously someone who doesn't know how to properly raise and socialize a dog shouldn't be allowed to have a large breed.
Sorry for the lack of coherent structure but it's late...
You need not reply, I just had to vent after reading a statement from some poor owner who got their baby pit taken away from them so that it can be killed. Maybe someday soon you guys can revoke this foolish measure... in the meantime, you should do some more reading, there are a ton of very informative, FACT based books on pits out there. You owe it to the poor creatures before you rob them of a life of fun and loving companionship
