Pit Bull Puppy Chewed Off Baby's Toes While Parents Slept

I would go toe to toe with any lawyer on this. The parents should not be prosecuted.

Do they really belong in jail with murderers and rapists, thieves, jackangels, prostitutes? I think not. They could be the most loving parents, but slept through something that was tragic.

I agree with you with this single caveat. What if they freely admitted getting drunk or doing other mind-altering substances before falling asleep? Would that then be cause for negligence?

The tragedy is that they could not see the obvious: pit bulls and kids do not mix.

Because of their inability to understand this thier child will live the rest of his life deformed.

Agreed.

Perhaps GL is right, maybe they were not that bright with having a pit bull around a baby so they shouldn't be put in jail with murderers.

I say chop their toes off instead.

Redguru and Longhorn, yes, I agree with you guys. I personally would not put that dog with my newborn, but that's just me. I assumed they are safe if people have them as pets. I don't know much about dogs.

I also agree that you can't take care of a baby while drunk or wasted. I have trouble taking Nyquil when I'm sick to not interfere with my kids' night time needs.

The point of my post was this..."I would go toe to toe". lol Toe to toe damnit!!! Laugh!!

It's a killer dog, mr animal lover in denial. You think it's cute, so are baby bears. For real, it'd probably eat the baby if it were hungry enough.

A puppy that's still weening is a blood thirsty killer? God, you're brilliant.

It's a baby pitbull. The vet said the dog probably thought it was nursing.

I wouldn't put a baby with a pit, but the dog didn't attack the baby. It was all just a horrible mistake that's going to leave the poor kid scarred.

To give you some perspective, 6 weeks is a baby, seriously. Their eyes and ears aren't fully opened until about two weeks old (a little under for eyes, a little over for ears). They don't start eating SOLID food until about four weeks old, because they didn't start cutting their milk TEETH (the first set is just little niblets that will fall out in a few months) until three weeks of age.

Basically, a six week old puppy is just barely equivalent to a 2 year old human being. They have very limited bladder/bowel control, they can eat soft foods, they play and sleep a lot, have very short attention spans and are too young to be taught much of anything. If they were still with their mother, they'd nurse regularly in addition to eating food.

Thanks for acknowledging the obvious.

whooooooooooo... there

Any and every dog can be killer dog. How we breed and teach and train is what makes them what they are. Any dog would eat whatever if it were hungry enough... hell i've heard of humans eating other humans when the are hungry enough. In this particular case I can't put this on the breed of the dog. He was a pup, and didn't have any clue. I do however feel that the mother and father should have NEVER left their child alone with any dog, or animal, no matter what breed... because all are capable of doing the same.

Frisky, shut up and keep looking good. :) I was just messing with him because I know what gets his goat.
