Pit Bull Puppy Chewed Off Baby's Toes While Parents Slept

redguru said:
I agree that the Pit bull wasn't trying to kill the child. Since all he had was his milk teeth it would have taken quite some time to chew the toes off that child. It's just outrageous that they didn't hear it. Like I said before, being poor is no excuse for not having a crib. There are many charities that will donate a crib for a newborn.

Yep.

It's a baby pitbull. The vet said the dog probably thought it was nursing.

I wouldn't put a baby with a pit, but the dog didn't attack the baby. It was all just a horrible mistake that's going to leave the poor kid scarred.

I couldn't care less about the dog or what it thought it was doing.

The baby is a human being that will grow up with no toes. That is not just "scarred", that is deformed, and the only reason is because someone doesn't understand that pit bulls are dangerous, dumb animals that should not be kept in a home with kids.

At 6 weeks old, it had nothing to do with the breed.

Uh huh. So had the dog been a cocker spaniel this was just as likely to have happened, right?

I'm glad you're so concerned about the dog.

It very well could have.

The stupid, poor, degenerate parents are at fault. They shouldn't even have a dog at 6 weeks old, they shouldn't have a baby within reach of an animal. They shouldn't have been so wasted that they slept through their child's screams because it was being eaten. I think it's a horrible thing that that kid is going to go through life because of this, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But you're going after an innocent puppy just because the breed has a bad name. They could kill this dog because people that have no business having a child left their kid within reach of an untrained animal. So you don't like pitbulls, I really don't like them either. This isn't the dog's fault.

The tragedy is that they could not see the obvious: pit bulls and kids do not mix.

Because of their inability to understand this thier child will live the rest of his life deformed.

It is clearly the parent's fault. The dog cannot be held responsible because it is a dumb animal. Any dog that maims a human being SHOULD be put to sleep.

I'd agree with you 95% of the time. This wasn't an attack though. I wouldn't see it as a dangerous animal.
