Also, it seems that too many people here put fault on the pitt bull. Look, I have large dogs and NONE of them have ever EVEN AS MUCH AS LOOK! at another person the wrong way. They are big dogs, so you have to discipline them and TRAIN them to be obedient. If you train your dog to be pissed off and fight, what do you expect ? it's the OWNER that is liable for all of this not the dogs. Anyone here think a dog is smart enough to make "educated" decisions ? I didn't think so.

I had a Great Dane, and I had to get rid of him after he showed SOME aggressive behaviour towards my kids - long time ago! no matter if you have a maltese or a boerboel (up to 150lbs.-200lbs.), you need to know how to control your dog, and if you teach it to be aggressive, well so shall it be. The owners are responsible NOT THE DOGS!

My brother owns a presa canario (Canary Island fighting dog) and, no, it's not what you think. This is the sweetest dog I have EVER met; in fact, his chihuahua is 10x more agressive than the Presa canario. Although the PC are considered one of the most deadliest dogs in the world, my brothers dog allows kids to ride on his back and spends most of the time begging for treats and doing tricks for food lol. He's 10x gentler than my doberman pinscher. Shows you that it's NOT the dog, it's the way you raise it and the attitude of the owners.
thats right, thers alot mouths flapping in this thread and most know nothing about pits or large breeds for that matter, this thread should be locked

You ever heard of a Golden Retriever killing someone? I think not.

thats my point. dont think there hasnt been a person mauled by a gr. i'm sure it has happened somewhere sometime. you made my point... thanks.

Wow....I didn't know that poodles, golden retrievers, and german shepards also attack children in packs and maul them and then need a bullet in the head to make them stop..

.............................................................................................

The dogs responsible for the bulk of the homicides are pit bulls and Rottweilers:

"Studies indicate that pit bull-type dogs were involved in approximately a third of human DBRF (i.e., dog bite related fatalities) reported during the 12-year period from 1981 through1992, and Rottweilers were responsible for about half of human DBRF reported during the 4 years from 1993 through 1996....[T]he data indicate that Rottweilers and pit bull-type dogs accounted for 67% of human DBRF in the United States between 1997 and 1998. It is extremely unlikely that they accounted for anywhere near 60% of dogs in the United States during that same period and, thus, there appears to be a breed-specific problem with fatalities." (Sacks JJ, Sinclair L, Gilchrist J, Golab GC, Lockwood R. Breeds of dogs involved in fatal human attacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998. JAVMA 2000;217:836-840.)

Lmao............You're a real dumbass. If you ever have children (*God please don't let him have offspring*) that get bitten by a dog you might change your attitude.

...................................................................................................
The breeds most often involved in fatal attacks are Rottweilers and Pit bulls.

In the United States, pit bulls make up one to three per cent of the overall dog population and cause more than 50 per cent of serious attacks.

Of the 27 people who died as a result of dog bite attacks in 1997 and 1998, 67% involved unrestrained dogs on the owner's property; 19% involved unrestrained dogs off the owner's property; 11% involved restrained dogs on the owner's property; and 4% involved a restrained dog off the owner's property.

Of the 27 people who died as a result of dog bite attacks during 1997 and 1998, 67% involved an attack by one dog; 19% involved an attack by two dogs; and 15% involved an attack by 3 or more dogs.

From 1979 to 1998, at least 25 breeds of dogs have been involved in bite related deaths. Pit Bulls and Rottweilers were involved in more than 50 percent of these incidences.
