Ala Wtf?

SUPERDIMI

New member
Okay I got one,

If after workout you want to spike your insulin. But at the same time ala increases uptake of postworkout carbs into the muscle right. Ala also decreases insulin.

Get it?

If you are trying to spike insulin after workout, why then take ala after workout?

What am I missing here? Anyone have a solid answer about when to take ala?

Respectfully,

D

I am not 100% clear myself but I believe it drives nutrients into muscle cells and improves insulin sensitivity which I took to mean it takes less to do the same job.

I think the r-ala guys said it actually lowers insulin but that was only true for the R version of it.

The main reason some people try to spike insulin post workout is to enhance the uptake of glucose into the exercised muscles. This increased uptake is what causes anabolism, not the insulin per se. So anything (such as ALA) that can increase glucose uptake with less insulin is prolly a good thing. However, in my experience I have not found that ALA makes any difference post workout while dieting since your muscle cells are already very insulin sensitive in this state. YMMV. I save the ALA for cheat meals or other times when my natural insulin sensitivity is not as high as post workout.

ALA would clear the glucose from your blood and drive it into your muscles, clearing insulin faster (hence increased sensitivity and uptake by GLUT4 receptors).
