I've started doing partials from about six inches off the chest to full extension for my Close-grip Bench Press work. I, in my excitement, failed to remember that I'd be starting from the bottom, and that this would cause my weights to be temporarily reduced, much as with how Squat load is reduced if you start from the bottom position, as opposed to standing. My question is essentially this- For those who have done this, approximately how long did it take for your system to adapt to starting from the bottom position of the movement in place of starting from the top? Regardless of the answer, my training will not change, but it would be nice to get a ballpark figure, as that would help with motivation.
