A couple more CKD questions...

Seashell

El Kabong

I've done a lot of searching & reading but I still have a couple questions..

What is the best day to have a refeed? For example, I do legs on Saturday, that's my hardest workout. So would it be benefiial to do a refeed that day? The day before?

Also, can you ever go TOO far into ketosis? Is there a point where it's detrimental to your health?

Last one.. can you be in ketosis at night.. not eat anything and out by the morning? Last night I was in, when I checked before bed. But by morning, it's borderline..??! I know for a fact I didn't sleepwalk downstairs and eat fourteen potatoes..so what gives?

I would suggest you have the refeed on Friday. This way your muscles are full of glycogen by the next day and you will have an awesome leg workout.
Don't forget to take r-ALA/ALA on your refeed day.

I don't think you can go "too deep" in ketosis. But maybe someone with more technical knowledge on this has more info.

Not possible. If you are using ketosticks to check whether you are in ketosis, don't rely on them too much. Ketosticks only measure the amount of ketones excreted in your urine. So showing trace amounts still means you are in.

where does it say to take ALA in the ckd? just curious... i must have missed it

you might not see ketones in the test if you drink a lot of water, and also in the morning because you haven't eaten in 8 hrs etc. - so there won't be a lot of ketones in the blood. doesn't mean your glucose stores have been replenished. if you have the diet dialed in correctly, it will do what it is supposed to.

from what I've read there's not a big risk of anything going too deep into ketosis.....somewhere I read deep ketosis is used to treat epileptics or diabetics or something, for long periods of time....
