Why are squats considered #1? Anyone can solve this mystery?

Hello all!

Anyone enlightened out there can explain this mystery?

Theoreticly the reason why Squats are so productive is because of the weight you use, right?

Well, when you do deadlifts you use much more weight. In my case its like 2x of squat weight. Also shouldnt leg press be far superior to squat since you could load much more weight (like 5x of your squat weight) and do 2x then reps?

So why is leg press inferior?

anyone can explain?? Where is Sherlock Holmes?

Squats are superior because they put the most stress on the entire body, much more than any other exersice, and hits the most muscle groups in terms of muscles hit directly and indirectly (stabilizers).

The more stress you induce means more natural androgens and growth hormones are released in your body, helping to make the body stronger, which is what your going for.

Also... Yeh squat recruits more muscle and it works muscle better than leg press (by EMG and stuff), howeever - Shouldnt you use MORE weight than less? There is something I dont get. Bench press for example allows you to use more weight than dumbell flies, becasue more muscles are involved. Howeever such doesn seem with squat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're seated in a leg press... so the way I see it none of the stabilizer muscles are working at all, glutes/trunk area

you can use more weight cus it's on a sled and track. most of the weight's transferred to this.

Well... Ya see...

when doing a squat not only am I lifting the (ex.225lbs) on my shoulders but.... I am also lifting the rest of my body which is 225lbs, that's 450lbs resistance on the old twigs there, deads are only measurable with whats on the bar cause the you pivot at the waist not the knees.. same with leg press, your sitting...not using your body as extra weight..... you could be lifting a whole other you.. easy!
 
Also, when you leg press the machine takes a lot of the weight because its at an angle. The weight used when leg pressing is not at all comparable to that of a squat (which is why its much easier to push something up a ramp than it is to pick it straight up). If you wanted to calculate the actual force your legs are exerting while leg pressing you'd have to calculate the angle the sled is from the ground and some other measurements of the leg press. To make it slightly more comprable to a squat you'd have to have the sled at a 90 degree angle and lay on your back while pressing. Of course, even then it wouldn't be the same. Kinda like how you use more weight with a smith bar squat than you can with a regular free weight squat.
