Why am I so fuckin' stupid?

So I'm on day 2 of a CKD, and I'm pretty sure my IQ has dropped about 15 points.

I've done this thing in the past, but I guess I haven't been in a position where I need my brain so much while on one.

I'm in my junior year of a mathemtaics degree at the university and I'm wondering if this diet is going to seriously hurt my grades. Anyone else experiance brain dead symptoms from this diet? Does it get any better?

I'm not even to hour 48 and I couldn't differentiate my way out of a 4th degree polynomial. I'm thinking this time around is going to have to be real short term.

If I take in some carbs with some ALA, will my brain get any glucose, or does it all go to the muscles?

The decrease in cognition and/or concentration really ought to improve dramatically within 10 days (approx.) of being on a ketogenic diet. Your brain is extremely efficient; but it needs some time to adapt - it can and will use ketones for perfectly normal brain function. Depending on your diet ratios, the body is also perfectly capable of deriving essential glucose from protein and glycerol.

If you really feel like crap - just try a diet that is more isocaloric. There really isn't anything magical about being in ketosis - and if it becomes more of a pain in the ass than a benefit - it's not worth it.

faster does not necessarily better .. i have yet to seen how CKD is as effective as the method i have described above, other than "its faster"

give it a week...i remember when i stopped low carb dieting i felt weird for a few days when i had carbs. just give it some time, if its not for you then find a diet that works for you.

Slower doesn't mean better either.

CKD is very muscle-sparing, that's how it's better.

In my experiance, CKD results in the most dramatic results in the least amount of time. However it isn't free. It's an ass kicker. It's been over a year since I've done one, and I wasn't in a place at the time where my brain was required to do high level computations all day long.

I should be O.K. in a few days, I hope. If I remember correctly the process of going in to ketosis is the worst part.

Edit: Interestingly enough, I'm already in ketosis. I just started this deal about 40 hours ago, have worked out once since I started, (lifted, no cardio) and am already showing moderate amounts on the sticks. This is the fastest I've ever gotten in. Starting tomorrow I will be doing both cardio and lifting everday till carb-up. So hopefully this will be a pretty productive run, providing I don't turn into a babling idiot in school...

your brain should be back on its optimal cognitive performance in two weeks; however remember that brain requires lots of glucose when cognitives activities, specially when mathematics or physics,.. are involved. When on ckd, youe body has to convert fat/protein into glucose which is not as easy as carbs. Personally, based on my own experience ( btw, i'm in science stuff)i would not eliminate all the carbs since you are a student of mathematics /science.

hmmmmmmmm I was wondering why I cant concentrate in class no more and not only that but totally lost track of whats going on in my math class cause its just not making any sense to me, and IM not talking about anything serius math here just beging class in college, anywas im glad i found out whats going on I guess im not the only one.
