Please do not wear straps or use a sponge or wear gloves when doing bench press. Please. Maybe I just do not see the real purpose. Your hands will adapt...trust me...they will.
Arnold says that he never used wraps, wraps were for pussy's. Arnold also said the same thing about milk, he preffered beer, anyways wraps are very important for people who have wrist problems thats why you see people using wraps during bench press. Just dont get to use to using them for you really need to be working on your grip.
Please do not confuse Arnold's words of wisdom with his ability to be a total jerk. When he was speaking of beer...he meant that in a jerk-like manner....just as he did when he told that guy to yell as he posed.

I just saw someone a couple of times use wrist straps. the ones that go around the bar, during bench. I was just curious that is all. I was going to get some straps for chins and bent over bb rows. for rows, my grip tends to fail but my back is like give more damnit! where can I purchase these things? local sporting goods store?
I bought a pair of wrist straps from Wal-Mart a few years back. I only use them every once in a while when I am pulling above 600 or close to 700 from 18" (event specific to me).
How much are you using on barbell rows?
It just sees to me that if your back hurts from squatting, it makes more sense to strengthen your back and core in stead of deciding not to squat. If your grip gives out when doing rows...why not strengthen your grip instead of relying on straps? Sure...if you are going up to 365 or more...yeah...give it a whirl. But if you grip gives out, then train your grip...what can it hurt?
I use WRAPS every day- my wrists seem to need the support....never use straps though....i love the pump in the forearms from heavy back and shrug work....
I belive it helps vascualrity too.....anyone know this for sure?
