whats the deal with this impact carb shyt

juicehead, BA has given you some great information here, and pretty much said everything I would have said about impact carbs. My advice is to stay the hell away from these protien bars. WHile they will have almost no insulin response, they have alot of crap in them that may hinder your fat lose, and they are nutritionally void. Basically they are candy bars without the insulin response and a little protien added. Use them as the occasoinal treat when you can't stand your diet anymore, however I would avoid making a daily thing out of them. Most of them are just a money making scam, like almost all suppliments. The only companies that make decent low carb candy bars (yes candy bars, skip on the protien bars) are carb solutoins and sorbe. Sorbe makes the best tasting one's I've found and their breakdown and ingrediants are great for ketosis diets. I've found that both brands have almost no impact on blood sugar levels and do not kick me out of ketosis. Unlike the one's made by suppliment companies such as Muscle Tech and Met-rx. Again, use them as a treat when you must have something besides meat and veggies, and sugar free jello isn't curving the cravings. If you are making a daily thing out of it, that is too much, and you need to work on your will power.

Sounds good will get rid of them out of my diet completely..

Will power is definately not one of the departments im weak on, just thought that these little fukers where good for u, so i was supplementing one or two meals a deay with them.

Its kinda hard finding other sht when im eating 8 time a day..

But thanx for the info guys, will take it back to the basics like steaks, turkey, chicken.....

Right, back to the basics would be best here. Steak with green veggies and a little olive oil is probably the idea meal on a keto diet.

i agree with body by finaplex

some bars have stuff in it like geletine and collagen, this adds to the protein count of the bar so you think you're getting protein but it's not absorbed by the body, rednering them as empty calories

BA, some? Try most. Yes, geletine and collagen are very incomplete protiens are are useless to you for rebuilding tissue or muscle growth. Its also funny when they try to add L-glutamine to get the protien content up. Over 90% of it that is injested will never reach the bloodstream, unless it it pep-tide bonded, which L-glutamine is not, it is a free amino acid. And the richest source of peptide-bonded glutamine found in nature is... a nice steak.

BA, most bodybuilders don't. I caught onto this when the whole glutamine peptide hype hit the suppliment world. After all, we know roughly 95% of injested free glutamine will be used for fuel by the GI track, so will not make it to the bloodstream, and then they start making this expensive as hell peptide bonded glutamine. It is absorbed at at least 10 times the rate of free glutamine. Peptide bonded simply means it is bonded to other amino acids. Protien is made of peptide chains.

Now, if glutamine is supost to be the most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue, thus has this great impact on muscle growth, you would think most people would realize that it must be very abundant in red meat (or all meat for that matter). Not only that, it is peptide bonded. So, if you want the anabolic effects of a hefty dose of peptide bonded glutamine (and some extra creatine for that matter) just eat a couple of steaks a day. Oh wait, that is what bodybuilders have been saying for years. We already know meat is anabolic... now we have ANOTHER answer as to why it is. They just keep adding up.... throw your suppliments away brothers, and just eat real foods with the same ingrediants.

what are your take on supplements bbf?
I think that too many people think that they are the be all and end all of sports nutrition, whilst they certainly make life easier, are they all they're cracked up to be? im seriously thinking of limiting my intake of supplements cos of the cost and ethics employed by sup cos

BA, I like fish oil, vitamins and use a little whey isolate w/ flax post workout. Ephreda is helpful for cutting since I do not tolerate clen very well. For the most part, suppliments are either a total rip off, or you can get equivilant doses from real food, for less money and actually get food with it. I think creatine and glutamine peptides are great, however I eat 5 ibs of meat a day. I already get more than I can use. Supplimenting with them would increase the value of my urine, but that's about it.

U guys r incredibly helpful, and thanx to this board i was able to achieve the goals i set out for...
