Just what is the type of diet you have to follow for fat loss only, can be the same or similar for developing abs, or it has to be more strict due the layer of fat that covers your abs is the hardest to get rid off?

When someone has "great abs" is it more to do with development or just sheer fat loss? whats the most important?

Great abs is just the result of low body fat levels. Everyone has an 8 pack, most people's body fat is just too high to see their abdominals.

Those 'ab diet' books you hear about are a marketing scam. There is no such thing as a 'ab diet'. Think about it. Is there an 'arm diet'? 'shoulder diet'?

The best diet to loose body fat while holding onto all your muscle (or even continuing to build muscle) is carb cycling. Carb cycling makes a lot of sense. Both scientifically and in a real world sense. No one will question the fact that carbs are anabolic. The problem with carbs is that too much of them will simply get you fat.

By carb cycling, you get the best of everything. The low carb days are fat loss focused and re-sythnesis muscle insulin sensitivity and the high carb days are very anabolic and replenish depleted glycogen levels.

I explain how to set up a carb cycling diet and have a full sample meal plan in this article here -> http://www.evolutionary.org/forums/supplements/carb-cycling-exposed-trevor-44776.html

a lot of females try crash diets that drop cals/carbs down too low. these may work initially but over time they will backfire

the best thing is lifestyle changes. this means eating healthier and exercising daily. eat low carbs on low exercise days, and up your carbs on other days.. carb cycling it is called. this works great because you will fuel your body up

Ab shape mostly depends on genetics, but how you see them and how defined they are - that is only made while dieting and regular exercising

It is mostly about getting that diet perfectly locked in to lose that last bit of fat. Combine that with training abs and that is what you need. The biggest focus though should be on the diet.
