what is your favorite BB magazine

I also like FLEX. I haven't read MD since it was All Natural MD, but will give it a try. I used to occasionally read one called PUMP, it had some good steriod info. What happened to that one?

T-Mag... all the rest are bottom feeders. T. C. Luoma was really pretty much the guiding light of MM2K during it's glory years. The mag went to crap when he left... He's made T-Mag the closest thing out there to MM2K at its best.

As a former contributor to some of these mags as well as knowing many of the writers, here's the lowdown as I see it:

Flex -- Best writers in the business -- many of whom never touch a weight. Very slick look with great pics. Some occasional good info. All the routines are "made up".

Muscular Development: Sketchy, some good stuff, some junk. A little pretentious and contrived and relies heavily on erotica (and homoerotica) to sell issues. Lately, has looked pretty good.

IronMan: Good mag for "real" training stuff but a little dry at times.

MuscleMag: Gaudy, commercial, tacky and a lot of fun. Lots of (too much) fluff but usually plenty of interesting and diverse info as well. MuscleTech ads can get out of control but they'll print honest info on training, nutrition and supps.

Muscle Media: Good for beginners.

Testosterone: Flat out -- nothing this site prints has an ounce of credibility.(At least not in the last 2 years) They are VERY slick though, to the point of being unctious. TC learned from Bill Phillips all too well that the way to sucker people is to act as if you're one of them and against the "establishment." They gain trust by warning people of "bad" supplement companies -- then provide their own line of worthless crap. (Except for Tribex, which is good but overpriced. Buy it from Beyond-a-Century or VitaminShoppe for half the price. Same shit)
TC, who comes off like a "tough guy" and a rebel lives in a mansion in LaJolla California. To him, being a rebel means wearing sneakers to the country club. Bill Roberts will work for anyone who will promote his garbage supplement. Chris Shugart is TC's lap dog. Ron Harris is a good writer but his better stuff is with MuscleMag and Muscular Development. He gives T-mag the throw -away junk (like an interview with a male porn star -- seriously!)

I listen with open ears and stand corrected.

I've read them all, and here's my take on it:

Men's Health--For middle-aged fat guys who want to "go to the gym" for 30 minutes twice a week to get "in shape."

Muscle and Fitness--The "GQ" of bodybuilding: TONS of ads and a few articles for pretty boys with pics of same who all hypocritically pretend they're "natural." Every article seems to be a sales pitch for Nitro-Tech or some other product that will supposedly turn you into a pro bodybuildeer without resorting to "needles"!!!)

FLEX--My favorite! Good articles with lots of valuable training and objective nutrition information. Lots of good pics of the pros for inspiration too. Here they at least allude to the use of steroids.

Muscular Develpoment--I need to check this out some more. The few issues I've read seemed really good, with lost of in-your-face info on steroids.

Nelson Montana - thanks for the descriptive post - One question regarding Muscle development - you said the use a lot of homo erotica - what do you mean about that - its not some gay weight lifting mag - is it?I am just looking for a mag that will provide good insight on training, diet, and overall health. I don't want to read any pro-homo rhetoric - no offense - just looking for some training insight.

Muscular Devlopment,

Is the best hands down. Great articles and colums written by Jay Cutler, Lee Priest, and Flex Wheeler now. Plus as a bonus theres pics of hott women in them, mmmmmm Brandi Dahl and Mandy Fanelli. Now thats good readin material.

muscular development all the way. use to be a muscle mag fan. but not realy any more to be honest I read every issue of every one of the mags just for some thing to do but muscle mag has to many plugs for muscle tech and there swimsuit specals are every month that first off takes away from the spectial, I love the picks but they are no longer artsy when you have women on women That is nice but not in a muscle mag. it just makes you angry because you cant see them naked going at it.
