can someone please describe this exercise to me, or does anybody know where they show a picture of it on a web stie?

here ya' go....

we do box squats because it teaches you to sit back in the squat, which in powerlifting is what you would want to do.you'll feel it more in your ham's .(your hamstrings are what pull you out of the whole in a squat.when you squat to the box you have to lead with your ass, meaning you sit back and down before bending at the knee, hard to explain.let me know if this helps.....

yeah now i see waht it is, though waht I am wonderins is i saw on an ealire post that alot of people said the box squat wasn't good for bodybiulding. right now i put box behindm e so I know how far to go down but i don't sit on it, plus my legs are still shoulder width apart, in a box squat do u have to sit on it and the legs that far apart as it shows in teh picture for it to be a box squat or am i doing a box squat in what i described?

I think that box squats are about the best exercise for glutes, hams, and hip flexors. I love them. My quads have suffered a bit, but if I trained in a gym I would probably add in some hacks or something for quads. I used to love hacks.

in a box squat you want to go as wide a stance as possible, then you actually sit on the box(pause),then explode up.with the box it should be just below parallel.when you squat wide you are going to feel it in different places(hips ,glutes, hamstrings),but for quads you would want to do like b fold says....throw in some hacks or maybe a couple sets of regular squats shoulder width ....

The mann,

Is that dudes form right for doing squats. It seem awful wide to me. I have never seen anybody doing a stance that wide before.

box squats are more a powerlifting exercise as i was told, they really dont help in quad development persay but they are great for strength,i am keeping them along with regular squats ,i figure i wont be walking to well after that

yes curling,he is using very good form actualy.also true what the "oak" says ,you don't want to rely on these for quad development.you are going to feel these in the ham's ,glutes,hips......these are the muscle that pull you out of the hole when you squat for power.i do box squats then i alternate from leg presses, hack squats every 4 weeks.hope i helped a little.........
