Okay so im going to start bulking soon and will stay away from white bread.
So the options are wholemeal, wholegrain, wheat etc. what's the best one to take? thanx :)

If you like pitas and that sort of thing, they have "carbdown flatbreads" at walmart in front of the deli section... 110 kcal, 11g prot, 24g carbs (15g fiber!!!), 3g fat... they're pretty big and pretty good too.

No ? - Ezekiel is the best bread out there IMHO...it's in the frozen section of most groceries........if not, check a natty food store.....

pumpernickle

Actually Pumpernickle often has many of the same ingredients as regular white bread (i.e. gluten, white flour, etc.) and is often coloured with mollasses.

Be VERY sure to check the ingredients before using pump.

Real Pumpernickel should only contain rye flour, water and Active Dried Yeast

Any bread without enriched wheat flour should be fine for bulking. Whole-wheat is better than multi-grain because multi-grain is simply white bread with added grains (unless you can find wholemeal-grain). However, I believe whole-wheat bread has a medium GI whereas wupper rye/oat/barley bread has a low GI, and is therefore a better choice if you're monitoring your BF%. Also, if you can find a brand with reduced salt, that would be ideal.

Other sources of non-processed carbs such as oatmeal, beans, brown rice, sweet potatoes, barley etc are better but I understand that bread is quick and easy to prepare, more transportable and that people are often short on time.

When I'm on the run and forced to eat bread (usually 2 - 3 times a week) I use a type of wupper rye.
