What about pork?

I was just rereading temple's great newbies thread, and it occurred to me -- the thread said protein should come form egg whites, chicken, and lean beef, I think. I just wanted to ask, and this may be a stupid question, but:

What about pork? I never see anyone writing about pork, and I was curious why. Is it not a good choice as far as the bodybuilding diet goes? Obviously, I'm talking about lean pork here, or lean ground pork...

Just curious...

I eat it. :) I like pork chops & love pork tenderloin. I buy the lean stuff. It's great for some variety. I can't stand fish anymore (baked fish, fortunately I can still handle canned tuna with mustard).

I have lean pork too. (at least once/week).
It's nice for a change and it's more tender than the beef.
:p I love it!

Oh, I looked it up in my nutrition book(not completely sure how accurate it is ) But it says that a 4 oz. Pork loin, center cut and boneless, has 21g. Pro. 0 Carb. 160 Cal 9g. Fat

Yes there so many of the barbeque places here in georgia it is absoulutely crazy. I hate the smell of that type of cooking. Yuck. And my dutch tonge does not like it at all either.

Beef and pork are more expensive in the netherlands then here so we dont eat nearly as much as in amerika. I think this is why we eat less of it and not becuase of nutrition facters. But why dont amerikans? It is so cheep here and as Wyst says it is lean and healthy.

Yea, we do have some really good BBQ places here. (I guess that's why we have such a high obese rate!)

I have ta stay away from them, just the smell alone will put 5 lbs. on me.:( But I do splurge on a free day, I might get BBQ once every 3 months.:p

hmmm beef is still a LOT cheaper in the netherlands than it is in the UK... come to think of it, EVERYTHING is cheaper in the Netherlands than it is here.... sigh.... (you can tell I wish I still lived there can't you?)

Yes everything is so expensive there i agree. Awful. But i read that part of this is price control from big UK companies and that amerikan companies are buying many of the supermarkts and that prices will come cheeper now. Hope this is so!
