What is the difference in these 2?

512MB DDR SDRAM 2 Dimms [add $75 or $3/month2]

512MB DDR SDRAM 1 Dimm [add $100 or $3/month2]
if you ge 1 DIMM then you still have one free spot so in the future if you wanted to add more RAM you could do so.

If your machine has 2 DIMM slots and you have 2 sticks of ram in, to upgrade your ram you couldn't just add in a new stick, you'd have to replace, so there would be extra cost.

Odds are you will never add more RAM, so 2 DIMMs is fine.

I would reccomend 1G if you can afford it though.

bran, there actually are some good deals right now for dell laptops. if you're still considering a dell, i can send you a link to some e-coupons, etc. which may still be redeemable at the time of your purchase.
seriously?? yes!!

12" screen is borderline unuseable.

In my opinion, 14" is the bare minimum, on a laptop. Both of my laptops have 14" screens and they get by okay. The step up from 14" to 15" is the magic spot though, 15" seems pretty roomy. 17" and widescreen laptops are luxury.

with some of the dell coupons floating around, i may be tempted to upgrade my current i8600 for a new i9300 with a 17" WUXGA (1920x1200) truelife(tm) screen and all that shit.

btw, bran, PM sent.

Mines a 14" and I really wish it was bigger, and I carry mine all over the world for work. A couple of extra pounds vs squinting at smaller graphics isn't much of a choice in my book, my new laptop will be a 17" screen.
