Training 6 days/week?

gimp

New member
I train 4 days/ week:

Chest & Bi's
Hams & quads
off
Back & calves
off
Shoulders &tri's
off

I train 2 times/ week with a trainer. He is now recommending the following split:
Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat
Chest Arms Shoulders Back Chest Legs
Arms Shoulders Back Chest Arms Legs
Shoulders Back Chest Arms Shoul Legs
Back Chest Arms Shoulders Back Legs

What do you guys think? What about recovery time?
He says it best for mass.

Personally, I think training that often with any kind of intensity is nuts, even on gear that wouldnt be easy to recover from. I honestly believe that as a natural 4 days a week is the best

I agree with Needsize. 6 days a week will drain you. I think it will take away the fun from the gym, and if it ain't fun, then whats the point??

Way too much volume...
I used to train at least 6 days a week when i was 18-19... And on top of that I'd run every day... This is when my shoulder injuries began... I think I would take 1 day off every 2 weeks...
I wound up getting very lean... but at 5'10 and 169 lbs.. I was a little too light in my opinion...
Stick with the 4/week thing.. you'll probably see better results

Yeah, I agree. I really respect my trainer. He's won every show his in. I'm not on cycle right now and don't intend to be for a while. His thinking is that if you work more than one body part per session, you'll be lacking strength for the second body part. i.e. when I do shoulders and tri's I have trouble doing heavy french press 'cause at a certain point in the movement my shoulders come into play. I'll give it a shot for a few months since I'm going into a cutting phase on march 1st anyhow.

You will overtrain very quickly with that and hurt your progress. More isnt better, Ive been lifitng 4 times a week with about 4 compund exercises a day 4-5 sets and have gotten stronger the past 6 weeks in a row.
