Tear :p

i know...the funny part though is that there aren't any racks for the bumper plates? A million to spend and you're feeding them chocolate milk and don't have any bumper plate racks? WTF? lol

Here is a perfect example of those who don't or can't, teach. You can always find some "expert", to say something ridiculous. Look at all of the various medical studies out there. Can you say BULLSHIT :)

Expert scientists also have discovered that saliva causes cancer. However, only when swallowed in small amounts over an extended period of time.

If you dranks 16 oz. of chocolate milk, you'd get 16 grams of protein. Might as well have a protein shake. A protein shake kicks ass on chocolate milk. Your body needs the extra protein PWO. The only benefit to the chocolate milk over the shake is the carbs from sugar to keep your insulin levels up. Proetein shake have sugar in them too anyways, well my does, 6 grams.

Protein Powders are highly over-rated. Chocolate milk is all you need - with lots of whole food protein, that is.

I kind of understand it because it has the protein and the sugars. But his "dumbed down" explanation is just plain dumb:

"It's pretty simple," Barwis said. "What did you drink when you were a baby? When did you grow faster than that? Never did. Evidently, Mom and Dad knew right in the first place."

Maybe he's forgetting that there are other chemical reasons that you grow so fast when you are a baby. Not just because you were fed milk lol.

Milk is really insulinogenic and triggers IGF-1 release.

I would think milk with whey protein would be the best thing for triggering the best insulin spike. Without the sugar and all the extra protein.

So Tat, you would say for a post workout shake if I use skim milk with my whey protein that I wouldn't need any carb like dextrose or waxy maze to stimulate an insulin spike?

True, but his "real" reason was: "Barwis is happy to explain how milk is the best delivery system for casein and whey, the proteins your body needs after a workout. The chocolate syrup replenishes glucose." Just in case you missed that part.

I saw that, thats why I said I kinda get where he's coming from. I just thought his other explanation had nothing to do with why it would work.

Yes. Lactose is glucose and galactose and the combo of some of the insulinogenic amino acids and a simple carbohydrate elicits a greater insulin response than just a simple carb on its own.

Pardon me............. but WTF does this have to do with Steroids?
Thanks for the information.

I think we're supposed to mix the chocolate milk with primo or test to get the most out of it. that's what I got out of it anyways.

I know we are talking most likely about skim milk, and maybe it is true. You don't need the extra protein because of the response. But milk in it's natural form has fat. Are we really making it a superior product by taking out what god "or evolution" put into it?

Of course I know we don't eat fat PWO. I don't believe in straight up cows milk for human consumption. But if I did, I would bet on whole milk being better for us than skim. I just believe that things like that and eggs are whole for a reason.

So if this is true, does adding in some extra whey help. Some people think that the goal of PWO is glycogen replenishment, and although that happens, the insulin response is what we want.

So, TAT, are you on-board with the chocolate milk PWO?

science calls bullshit.

its always funny when you read these cult of personality gurus with weird theories based on nothing -- like vince gironda and his eat 20 raw eggs a day or some shit

according to all recent studys, post workout you need fast digesting protein, fast absorbed carbs

that means bcaa, whey, hydrolized whey protein isolates

and

dextrose or waxy maize starch (or other hi molecular weight carb)

I get choco milk free at work, but it's 8gm of fat in the little pint so I stay away. God they are good though!!!!

to continue,

casein is a slow digesting protein - and the fat will further delay digestion. the opposite of what yu want PWO.

the milk sugars arent as quickly absorbed as far as I know as dextrose, and certainly not as fast as hi-molecular weight carbs. also see the fat issue.

the chocolate flavoring may also contain high fructose corn syrup which will do nothing for you PWO but make you fat.

so in the words of Joe Pesci, "everything that guy just said is bullshit"

Ok...but out of the entire 11 schools in the Big Ten who has the lowest acidemic standards to be accepted? 1. Ohio State and 2. Michigan State. Any idiot can get into those schools. :)

YEAH, i have used the choc milk before when i forget to bring my powder with me to the gym or my shaker explodes in my bag , it will "suffice" if u dont have any other shake and it is readilly available, one reason this guy is is steering his athletes in this direction is he is afraid for them with supplements containing trace amounts of banned substances with all the drug testing going on thats just a guess
