my training partner is dating a fitness competor she has done very well looks great. So I had him asking her about diet training etc. She does like 2 hours of cardio a day WTF everything I have ever learned says that is a no no. Also intakes a fairly high amount of carbs. Is this just a case of her knowing what works for her body?

From what I have noticed, fitness competitors tend to regularly do insane amounts of cardio. Usually 2x a day for an hour. Even in the off-season. They lie to the magazines - usually saying they do it a couple times a week. Bull. The ones I have talked to do insane cardio plus routine practice.

Not to mention they usually use AAS too.....but shhhh....don't tell the magazines.....

As for carbs, I think it is an individual thing. She must know her body, and know what works.

It also can depend on the level of competition. The fitness competitors I know compete in Fitness Olympia or are IFBB Pros. On a lower level, it might be different, since a different amount of muscle/fat is okay.

Did she specify what "cardio" counts as? Fitness competition is a WHOLE other ball of wax compared to figure / BB. There is a level of endurance that would blow most of us out of the water. Its even more high energy than Olympic gymnastics AND most of the competitors are 10 yrs older than your typical Olympic gymnast. "Cardio" could include any gymnastics / dance / endurance training she does as well. And in order to maintain that level of energy she HAS to pound carbs. I imagine further that if she's on a regular competition schedule she may be doing that level of cardio to stay lean.

She does an hour in the am and at night. Sick muscle mass on her. She has won 5 non pro comps in a row. She does spinning classes and some other stuff. She is off season bulking at the moment, but even on season her carbs are a bit high. Which understandable for fitness but dam all that cardio. She swears up and down she is natural just great gentics.

For most people, her method of training/cardio does not seem ideal. However, she does seem to know what works for her.

I know some people who do some pretty bizzare things too. I know a guy who weights trains about 10-11 times PER WEEK for about 2 hours per session, and he is stronger, more ripped, and bigger than almost anyone one out there. Very little AAS use as well.

Whats works for one may not work for everyone.

Personally, if I train more than 5 days per week, my cortisol levels go through the roof. I know where I need to make my cutoff.
