This pissed me off.....

Ok so this happened Friday night at the gym. I was doing my workout minding my own. Well I need to do a machine and there was a trainer on there with a new client. I went up to him, now mind you I've talked and bullshitted with this guy many times and he seemed cool. Ok so I asked hinting around that I would like to work in inbetween their sets. SO I asked him if he was about finished on there. He gets snippy with me NO,We have 4 more sets. I'm like ok. Then walked away this started eating at me. SO I turned at him with the owner right there and said what the hell happened to working in. He wouldn't even look at me. So I moved on. He moved off the machine I needed but I couldn't just go and jump on as I had already started working with DB's and wanted to finish my sets on them. I did jump on after I was finished but he was not even in the room. While I was in the middle of a set he walks in with her and gets all huffy b/c he sees me on the equipment. Now knowing what kind of bitch I can be I just keep working until I finish my sets. Then walked away. Now mind you he's got this little girlie girl giving me nasty ass looks now. But I'm just brushing that shit off. Soooooo I'm finished on there right he jumps on again and won't let anyone else on. I go over to do cable curls and he's finished with her and looks at me and says there it's free. I looked at him and said your being a F*cken D*ck. He walked out and then wouldn't look or talk to me the whole night. GOD that pissed me off so bad!!!! Who the hell did he think he was acting or talking to me like that I pay my dues to work out on the same equipment that little bimbo was working on. SO WTF!

You kidding me! I would have snagged the owner right over there and said, "look I thought it was an unknown rule to have people work in. I'm paying for this gym just as much as any other member and one of your employees is being rude. What ever happened to customer service around here? Not only that I was debating on hiring him as a trainer and he just screwed himself out of a long-term committed client. So he just in turn screwed you (the owner) over." See what would have happened next. As far as that little girl I would have just laughed in her face and said, "Is that all the weight you can do?" "You might want to go spend a few hours on the cardio machines because you are spending a lot of money on a trainer who is making you look kinda big!" Screw him out of two clients and burst her little self-esteem.

I wish I would have thought to do that but when I get mad I don't think clearly so I just worked off my anger. She was a deligate as my husband would put it woman. That's his reason for not doing things for me like other men (well some men) do for their women b/c he knows I'm not a deligate woman and can handle things. UGH! Ok back on topic now. She was barely doing any weight I'm not gonna rag on that b/c if it was really her first night that's why but she's was really gym stupid if ya know what I mean. I'm gonna see if he tries to talk to me again if he does I'm gonna be like oh additude in check now huh.

...as for the girl being trained - hopefully she's smart enough to see what kind of trainer she's dealing with....and with her being new, she probably felt pretty uncomfortable in that situation. Maybe at some point you could pull her aside and nicely explain gym etiquette to her since big Mr. Trainer Man was so rudely trying to puff out his chest and act as "the all important one" - ignoring common courtesy.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I figure he will start feeling like a total jerk next time he sees me and either not look me in the eye or try to kiss my ass. Hopefully she doesn't carry this on thinking she can do the bitch thing every time she sees me. If sooo she and I will have a talk about gym etiquette.

The last thing a trainer wants is to have their "authority" not "respected" -- the reality however is that he should've taken advantage of that opportunity to let this girl know that letting people work in is a common part of gym ettiquette along w/ putting back your weights & wiping the sweat off your eqpt. I don't think it does anythign to insult the girl but the trainer needs to grow a set & be professional about it.

Gyms are weird that way - its like a playground where you'd think, as adults, we'd be civilized about sharing the eqpt, when it is really just like a bunch of 5 yr olds running around.

So true! Most of the time this guy is nice about it but I don't know what was eating him that night. It appears to be that I hit a nerve or that he was just looking to lash out his frustrations on someone and I was the first regular to approach him. Who knows. I do know I was not rude to him until he got nasty with me. And I do agree with you about being professional and about the kiddy playground remark. Most of the time it's funny to watch until it gets mean.
