The Importance of Posture Outside The Gym

Hello! I was wanting to dedicate a topic based on the importance of posture for those that are wanting to build muscle.

Of course most people say that you get better results with better form on exercises, but how MUCH does form count outside of exercises such as just doing day to day things?

Do some of the vets believe that having an erect posture with flexed muscles such as having BB posing postures 24/7 is crucial to building/maintaining muscle mass, or that it is only somewhat beneficial or maybe doesn't matter at all?

So imagine the person that exercises hard in the gym and does everything else right, but on off days lies around limp bodied in poor noodle body posture and just kinda relaxing. Does this habit have a big detriment on gains?

What about the guy who puts in the effort, and outside of the gym has noticeably superb posture and is in a constant state of flexing and stretching in any kind of situation?

Is this something that we should all be paying attention to outside of the gym, or is it ok to relax and let our bellies hang out once in a while ?

Would appreciate some opinions and experiences.

I don't think posture and gains are directly connected, but poor posture over time effects your spine, and will reult in muscle imbalances and nerve issues and you will be more suseptable to injury.
Its like the whole chiropractic philosophy. You have to be lined up straight and balanced, and bones and muscles all in proper position for optimum function. Bad posture creates problems and they get worse as time goes on.

My bud at the gym told me that good posture, and flexing actually helps burn calories too. Maybe keeping muscles active even just a little bit all day is good for them?

I've got an exercise ball in my office to sit on which is supposed to do that very thing. It works ok, but after a while I find myself slumped over and need a chair with a back.

I cant help but laugh when I see those guys with invisible lat syndrome. Who the hell do they think they are fooling. Stop that nonsense, you look stupid. There is no benefit to walking around flexing all day unless you want people laughing at you. Practicing posing is a good thing for bodybuilders to do, but not in public places. When your resting just rest. As long as you train hard, eat, and recover you will be ok.
