Sumo Squat vs. Squat

Hey Ladies and Shadow,

I need something that will help target my inner thighs along with diet. Will the Sumo Squat help? Is there any of you that does one over the other, and why? How about any of you that do both, either in the same workout or on separate days? What are some of my options here in case I'm way off base?

What is a sumo squat?

Most of the fat on my thighs seem to be on the inner thigh. So, I understand!

I start doing a parallel squat and then as I get comfortable with the weight, I get my ass to the floor with a wide stance. The wide stance seems to hit my inner thighs really well.
 
I think the sumo squat is the wide stance you're talking about. Let me see if I can dig up a link with a pic.

Can't find a picture, but all descriptions say stand with your legs in a wider stance. Toes may be slightly pointed outward.

I squat sumo ;)

I don't know that it will target inner thighs... It does kill my glutes and hams though.
 
Thanks Bunny. The drawing of that guy cracks me up. So if sumo targets inner thighs and regular squat targets quads, should I do both? I hope Shadow sees this post.

I like to switch up. A set for the inner/ a set for the outer.
 
I sumo as well I hold a db between my legs... I call it a pile squat though... sort of like a ballet move.. keep your toes point out then bend down so your knees are at a 90% angle.. I feel it targets the inner thighs as well as the glute and quads... can't wait to see what shadow has to say....
