slow warm ups?

i used to just do one really light warm up set then jump right in to a heavy set, but i recently figured out that taking a little more time works better when you want to have one set to failure that will be hard as possible.

i know that i have it in me to do 220 for 7-8 reps, i was thinking that if i want to get fully warmed up but without exosting myself at all before the set i could do
140x10
160x5
195x3

any suggestions? is this too much or too little?

Well if i were to do 200 for 8reps, I warm up with 145 x 8 and then 145 x 5 and find that more than sufficient. But thats me. Just do enough to warm yourself up good enough and move on. :)
