Red Meat

Let's just say one were to eat red meat as their source of protein every day, with a shake PW. That would be a good deal of bloody steak, and supposedly it can cause prostate cancer, but I've also heard that there's no direct correlation. That lies between cancer and high testosterone levels, which red meat brings about indirectly.

Mr. X also recommends a "meat and potatoes" diet (so simple, two foods *drool*) to bulk up. It sounds so simple, and so yummy, and even though it's bland, what would happen if one were to do this? Obviously, including some veggies, and maybe one can of tuna and some oats a day, but otherwise, 4-5 oz. steak 5 meals a day with a potato in each, and one meal with tuna and mayo.

Would this be bad? The red meat is my main concern, not variety with nutrients. That will come later. Steak is so calorie-dense, tons of protein, and tastes great. It also doesn't smell like chicken or tuna in a tupperware, so it's ideal for me to just eat steak all day long.

Green light on this?

Science behind any of it? :chomp:

the only thing I cant think of to watch out for with red meat is the amounts of "bad" cholesterol it contains. You should also supplement with tons of fiber if you're gonna eat it often or you might get clogged ;)

What happens then?

Is 10 oz. a day too much?

Not enough :)

Real men eat red meat :p

Here's an interesting article about the "harmful" effects of red meat.

Here's an excerpt:

While the Masai of Africa eat meat and drink blood, milk, and animal fat as their only sources of protein (animal fat makes up 60 percent of their energy intake), they suffer less heart trouble than Westerners. One reason is that they always combine their animal products with strong bitter, antioxidant herbs-up to twenty-eight additives in each meat-based soup, and twelve substances added to milk! In other words, the Masai have balanced the intake of oxidizing and antioxidizing compounds. According to Timothy Johns, it is not the high intake of animal fat, or the low intake of antioxidants, that causes so many health problems in industrial countries; it is the lack of balance between the two.
