question about protein

i bought some protein -six star body fuel
and it says to put one scoop of protein in to water or milk or if you want to gain more muscle put 2scoops.

my question is how much milk should i use in the protein shake
and how much is a scoop

and shouldi drink 2 or 1 scoops of protein at the same time... whats the difference

how much liquids you use is your preference. I personally use 6-8 oz for every scoop i add while some other use 4-6 oz, its really up to you and your caloric requirments. Again depending on your diet and how much supplamental(sp?) protien you need determines how many scoops you use...

About the scoop, it usually comes in the container and is barried in there...search around for it. If not read the serving size and use a measuring cup equivalant to it.

Is this the stuff?

Since the protein / scoop = 20 g - for a guy I'd use 2 scoops / meal if that is your only protein source. I generally set the size of my protein portions to whatever = 35 g of protein (e.g. 4 oz chicken, 1 1/2 scoops protein mix). This is a rule of thumb I use based on the idea that women can metabolize about 35 g of protein in one sitting (2-3 hrs). For guys this jumps up to about 50 g of protein. People will argue how accurate that is, but based on other diets I've used that set the portion size instead of the total grams of protein, it seems to be pretty accurate for my purposes.

To that end, I'd go w/ the 2 scoops for you. I'd also do 6-8 oz milk per scoop - I really hate lumpy protein drinks. From fitday.com, 1 c skim milk = 8.35 g protein - so 2 cup skim milk will get you to about 55 g protein for 1 meal of this stuff.

Careful with that part. More protein doesn't necessarily mean more muscle growth. Get your training and diet in check and don't rely heavily on a protein supplement to produce gains.

Other than that use however much milk or water you like the consistency to be. Not sure how that one tastes. Some of the older ones were so bad I'd put as little liquid as I could in there and just drink it back really fast. (Flex Fire anyone :))

Good luck.

Anything you take in that amounts to calories of any kind has to be realized toward your total caloric intake. So, it really depends on your calorie needs. Any way it goes, I would use a more casein based if I were going to use a supplemental protein other than post workout(and even then a blend is a good idea).

So, these are 2 things to keep in mind(calorie needs and "useablilty") when weighing the options of how much to use. I would also suggest unless you have a very hard time meeting your protein needs, whole food is the way to go.

If fat burning is your main goal, I would wait 30-45 minutes, then have your next regularly scheduled meal. (nothing that will raise insulin to any extent :))
