Question about bring my diet in my suitcase to Japan

I'm leaving for Japan on a business trip next week and I was wondering if I can bring protein bars, protein shakes, MRPs, and canned tuna with me so that I can try to keep my diet on point as well as I can.

Can anyone let me know if I can bring these things overseas (I know you can't bring fruits, vegetables, etc...) and does anyone have some tips to give to me while I'm traveling to keep my diet as clean as possible while traveling this far?

Your best bet would be to contact "customs" or just call the airport. I would assume that u at least won't be able to bring anything that's already open...like a tub of protein w/ a broken seal.

Japan's a pretty diet friendly country. You may be fine eating what's there. As far as the bars and such, if they're not open you should be ok. I went when I was in high school and had a few candy bars in my back pack. They weren't an issue.

Hello? Why would you want to bring canned tuna to Japan? Think sushi!

I'm not sure about the food laws, sorry.

Cause Sushi can get pricey

If you're there on business can't you expense your meals??

It's my understanding that Japan has very healthy food. You might want to do a Google search on the area you're going to to see what restaurants are in your area & check out the menu in advance, etc....

Everything is pricey in Japan, not only sushi... it is a matter of perceived prices...

As for canned tuna... they have that over there, save yourself the hassle and buy some at a local store, it will not kill you (but you won't get the workout of hauling a bagload of tunacans at the airport).

As for the other stuff, as long as it doesn't look you have an intent to sell, you should be ok.

I only get 35 bucks a day to eat so it'll get pricey if i'm eating sushi all the time. Hopefully I'll have a lot of meetings where they will supply the food and such.

Anyone know if there are any big gyms in the Sapporo area by chance, don't want to work out at a garbage hotel gym unless its my only choice?

careful with that supplied food... At least, you will see that Japanese men eat NO SUGAR whatsoever: In their culture, only kids and women eat sugar...
