Yes. Processed food can slow down fat loss and muscle gain.

Processed food is often void of nutrients, and heavy on chemicals and bad fats (as people have already mentioned). These things can not be properly utilized by the body. Therefore, your body is not getting the essential things it needs to run smoothly and help you meet your goals.

Clean food is better for muscle building and fat loss. But it is also good for general health. There is no reason to eat processed food.

everybody writte that important is clean food, tell me why, why is no good stuff like Turkey ham, yoghurt, bread or cheese as a matter of course limit quantity.

The items you listed are not all processed foods.

Processed lunchmeat (turkey, ham) - full of sodium, chemicals. Plus, the nutrients in them are lower (protein). Yiou would be better off making a turkey breast at homew and slicing it up.

Yogurt - you can buy some that aren't extremely processed. The reason it is not included in a normal BB diet is because it is dairy. Most BB don't eat dairy products.

Bread - processed as hell. But you can buy some breads that are "okay". Look for whole grain wheats, flax breads.

Cheses - not normally really processed unless we are talking about the Kraft slices in the wrappers. Cheese itself is not necessaruly bad. Again, it is dairy which is why most BB don't eat it.

thanks daisy for clarify, but what kinde of yoghurt is not extremely processed?
and tell me...you wrote me that process food is rich at fat...but what about Fat free product?

fat free, no sugar added (sweetened w/ aspartam) yogurt
or plain fat free yog

and, no, processed food is not always rich in fat, but who cares since you don't eat processed food ?

Fat Free products have the MOST chemicals of any food. In order to remove the fat, they must add something to the food. If you want a diet rich in chemicals and un-useable food - eat fat free. I'd MUCH rather eat a little less of the full-fat product, or even light. I will not eat fat free products.

1. Processing removes essential nutrients and fiber from foods. Almost 3/4 of Americans don't get RDA amounts of magnesium and zinc due to their refined food diets. These nutrients are required for health.

2. Processing adds sugar and preservatives that have a negative impact on health. The former head of the FDA said that if table sugar came up for review today as a food additive it would be denied due to its negative impact on human health. Many of the preservatives have been shown to be carcinogenic or have other unhealthy impacts on human health.

3. The additives and processing negatively impact insulin sensitivity and increase the caloric content of the food. This leads to overconsumption of calories and obesity, a leading cause of death in the United States.

Need more reasons not to consume highly processed foods?

I agree, good stuff Java. Everyone else here as well. Nothing that I can say that hasn't been said already. Processed foods also tend to be more expensive, I've noticed.
