O.k. so I was thinking on the natural Peanut butters (besides the new Skippy brand) there is that layer of oil. Why not drain off the oil rather then stir it in? Then you wouldn't have the added fat? What is your take?

Well, it's not "added" fat per se, but it's the separation of the oil from the peanuts as a result of the grinding proces.....The oil you see floating is a part of the peanut itself....

ANPB is my favorite food right now.... :p

I here ya girl... I've tried it both ways, pouring it off then digging in, and stirring (as I usually keep a jar of smooth AND crunchy on hand) ....

I find the stirring not only messy but time-consuming. Unless you specifically have a peanut butter 'stirrer', I like to use a butter knife so as not to displace too much space and have the oil oozing over the rim of the jar. Try to create a hole in the bottom of the PB and let the oil drain down, of course you get your arm workout in by stabbing and stirring it up...

I'm sure some people do drain the oil but use that fat, it’s there for a reason. Plus the product will be least likely to dry out and harden but it will taste better & stay creamy and be easier to 'spread' if need be...

I'm not sure I'm understanding this right? Do you think that they add this oil is on the top, if so they don't. It naturally separates like that, remember all natural peanut butter is a good fats source.

Do not drain it off, stir it in.

I've found that if you turn it upside down for a while, the oil goes to the top(upsidedown) then when you flip it, you don't have an oily mess, just stir it in from the bottem, just a suggestion...

I have heard that peanut butter grows mold. I was buying natural pb at the store and grinding the peanuts there but I was told from my nutritionist that it grows mold so to use Organic.
Anyone heard of this?
