Passing out on squat day

I was on my fourth set of ass to the floor squats today. Maxed out and racked the third rep. I lost half my vision and got dizzy. It was nothing entirely new to me. I've blacked out in between sets before. But this time it ruined my workout because I couldn't recover from it. It lasted for 45 fucking minutes. When I looked at my lifting buddy I only saw the right half of his face. I wanted to finish my workout, but my buddy convinced me it would be a bad idea since I couldn't see too well 45 minutes after my set. I just laid next to the rack and sipped water, but it stayed with me pretty bad. Its now been two hours and I still feel light headed and everything is sort of surreal. I've trained much harder than I did today, so my body is use to the intensity. My diet was good today with plenty of carbs and probably a gallon of water.

Anyone have any ideas why it would stick with me so long?

A lot of it has to do with the heat for me. When I do high reps, especially when it is hot...my legs get such a pump that I can't think, see, talk, feel my teeth/nose/jaw, etc... When that happens...I call it a day.

Thanks bro, I considered that while I was staring at the ceiling(because I was taking an ECA with lots of caffeine). But the A/C was blazing, I was fully hydrated, and it just wasn't very warm.

That can definately give me that feeling during an intense workout. And with the ECA in your system, the feeling will last longer.

I was close to passing out after doing dead lifts today. I was on ECA, dehydrated, and it was hot as hell. Not a good combo when you are lifting heavy. Luckily I managed to finish my workout, but I got real dizzy a couple of times.

I've had the blacking out thing with squats a few times, everything develops a red tint and then gets darker and darker until it's completely black. Usually I notice colors are very bright after a tough set, like vibrating with hallucinatory clarity. I've always thought it was lack of oxygen to the brain, as I have a bad habit of holding my breath when the going gets tough. The first few times I pretty much had a panic attack, but since I survived without ambulatory assistance I just wait it out now.

45 minutes though, seeing only half your friends face? everything seems surreal? It's an acid flashback dude. The stress to your liver of cranking out glycogen squeezed out some long stored LSD:) j/k
