what constitutes overtraining....right now i do a threee day split of
M:chest/tris
W:legs/shoulders
F:back/bi's

my friend right now is trying to do this split...
M:chest/tris
T:back/bis
W:legs/shoulders
Th:chest/tris
F:back/bi's

what do you guys think is the best split???if you want more info from me just ask...keep it real bro's..........

you really shouldn't train with weights more than 2-3 days in a row. ATP levels can drop severely (60-70%) after a demanding workout such as back or legs. it can take 48-72 hours for them to return to 100%. your body and neurological systems needs time off to recuperate, which is very hard to do training 4 days in a row.

I would either do 2 on 1 off, or 3 on 2 off. definetly not 4-5 days in a row.

I do a mon-wed-fri split and i'm still sore when i go into the gym sometimes even with 1 day off. I can't imagine doing 3 days straight.

overtraining is when you work out TOO MUCH for your body to handle. It doesn't mean training same bodypart often. Infact you can overtrain even if you work out bodypart only once per week...
And you can still feel fine.

Overtraining is when you cant gain strenth/size (or gain too little of it).

If you cant put MORE weight EACH week on your compoound movemnts, than you are overtraining. No ifs or uts.

That is the real definition of overtraining.

It varies. If I don't eat well I don't train. If I'm eating well I can train for two hours five days a week with gains still coming every week. With proper food and rest you can abuse your self to a point. I always thought my diet was perfect then I took a serious look at it and realized how much I was missing. Food is more anabolic than anything, with it you'll grow.

i agree with jabs.......it`s all about food and rest........for instance if all you had to do was eat, sleep and lift weights you would probably notice a big difference in how long or how much you could workout.....

when i didnt have a job i could workout 2 hours a day 5 days a week and feel fine.......

however now that i work 40 hours a week im totally drained and can barely even train 3 days a week.....that`s just me tho, im sure other people can train just fine and hold down a steady job........

ot'd

I know you all are weightlifters or whatever, but this should help.
While racing towards the end of the season last year, i couldn't get over feeling ot'd and shortly thereafter hurt my back. I managed to get back in time for a bout a month of racing and still felt ot'd even though I was sedentary for about 3 weeks and only trained moderatly for 2. I got kinda pissed and frustrated, so I went to my doc and begged him to get my blood work done. Before he had samples sent to the lab, he tested my h-crit, which was 47 (i had not even seen dope before two years ago) which waas pretty damn high for feeling shity. I got my tests back from the lab in a secured envelope a week later and some of my markers where wacked and my doctor had no real explanation, so I discussed with my coach, which we both researched it. Anyhow, what I'm saying is, you need to find a doctor that listens to athletes who know their bodies well and get your blood work done and research it so you learn some stuff, then ask your doc why your markers are where they are.

In conclusion, get your bloodwork done, then research your shit.:destroy:

i work out 6 days a week. and on sunday a spend a few hours playing football. i've never felt better in my entire life. i'm also gaining like crazy. BUT i eat well and i'm only 22 years old so i also have youth on my side.

I was training about 3days a week and not noticing much gain or anything, and I was super lazy feeling. So I adjusted my diet and I also added an extra 150grams of protein a day to it. And right now I have been getting my biggest gains and I can work out 5days a week and feel great.
