On days off, would it be ok to do calves and abs?

I have two off days in my workout right now. I was thinking of doing calves and abs on those off days. So there wouldnt be a complete day where I did nothing, which I read, that you need a complete day to just sit around. but there would be two days where all I did was calves and abs. Whatcha think?

Gotta give the body some rest man, you may think your sitting around doing nothing but your body is recovering and growing. Give it a try you will see.

I actually think it's fine to do a little something every day. Even if it's just jog or something. Maybe take one complete day off a week but I like the routine of going to the gym every day of the work week.

One on each side of the fence here, anyone else?

Base it on how you feel. It is ok to do some stuff but just as cobin said you do need some rest. If your regular routine is not overly demanding(high volume/intensity) and everything else is in order then doing a few sets of calves or abs on an off day wont be a problem. If your already borderline overtraining then that may push you over the edge. What I would do is try it for a week or two and see how you feel. Make sure you set up your split so that you have at least one day a week where you are completely off though, you do need that(but you can pull off training 6 days a week as long as your going lower intensity/volume and eating/sleeping).

A day off should be a day off but both abs and calves only require a few minutes of work (if trained correctly) that they can be done in-between workout days.

Jogging would be dumb -- stressing to the adrenal system and provides no benifit.

Make sure you get enough sleep, which is the most important aspect of recovery.

I think a day off should be a day off, not a day off with some calf and ab work. Give your central nervous system and your body as a whole some time off from exertion so it can direct all of the food you're consuming to rebuild muscle. Go do some running or play some ball if you feel you need some sort of physical activity.
