im thinkin of cutting for the 1st time and was wondering some general ways to go about it. is there anyway to cut while still gaining mass? i saw some people talking about like 50 40 30 or something like that but i didnt understand if it was a percentage thing or what but if i could get some general guidelines id appreciate it very much

thanks

cutting fat while still gaining muscle isnt always the easiet thing to accomplish. it takes alot of trial and error with your diet. basically u need to get your body to burn your body fat stores for energy to fuel your workouts.

do u plan on doing cardio? post up your stats (height, weight, age, bf%, years training). post up your current diet meal by meal with serving sizes.

Ok i dont Want to do cardio unless it would be benificial. im 5'11-12ish 165lbs 23yr old and body fat based on scale is around 14-16 *i dont trust the scale but i just use it so see how it changes while i gain mass while bulking* training i started 3 lifting 2-3 years ago but had big breaks and this last 8 months ive started being religious with it and am doing the nub 3x5 routine PS im a college student so squeezing in meals at appropriate times is a pain in the ass

meals *not what i intend to eat while cutting just a semi bulkingtype*
chicken/turkey sandwhich with a slice of cheese on wheat
Snack
protein bar between classes
lunch
cup of oatmeal and 4-5 eggs and a thing of yogurt
snack
2 PB&J sandwhiches
Whey protein shake before lifting
Whey protein after lifting
Dinner
3/4 cup of white rice *should i switch to brown* chicken and mixed veggies or green beans
Stir fry with beef
Spagehtti with beef
or alfredo with chicken and broccoli

i read the post about deli meats and am thinking the morning sandwhcih will have to be replaced now but i dont really have time to make anything unless its quick and i can eat it in 10-15 min durning my walk to class. id love to eat my lunch for breakfast but that meal itself takes me to long to eat and my sleep schedule is shit as it is with studying

but critique away im all ears.. i tried cottage cheese but man i cant eat that stuff for the life of me

i guess i should state my goals.. id like to trim down a little for the summer.. i dont think i could look ridiculously buff but if i cut it would defin look alot better.. but i wouldnt like to lose much weight if i did. im already small enough as it is

For cutting, bread, white rice, spaghetti should be dropped (although OK PWO, but still not great).

I'd suggest PB&J is a poor fat/refined carb combo.

As for deli meat, there are some sliced meats that are low in fat and from a physique compo perspective OK. But the WHO has recently declared them a carcigen so i'd avoid

Cardio will definitely speed up the process.

Cut out carbs or minimize carbs in the evening, unless that is when u workout.

obviously u will need to go calorie deficient. so u need to find your BMR to get a rough idea as to how many calories you will want your diet to be based on.

cut out the non-whole wheat breads & pastas.

any thing u guys would add as a snack to replace some things or that could be added between when bored of one of them? besides cottage cheese

i snack on natty pb or beef jerky between meals if really hungry. but i eat every 2 hours so that is usually rare.
