My gym merged with the Y

blinddeafmute...I'm very sorry to hear about your wife. My husband and I have had our ups and downs over the last 7 years (law school is hell on a marriage, as is the financial burden of being a young attorney), but we are so much stronger for all we've been through, and I wish you the same luck. Goodness knows there were times I didn't feel like compromising. Thank God for our son, or I probably wouldn't have. Prayers your way...

I trained at the Y after I had my son (3 years ago in another city). It was a top notch facility. Of course, I wasn't into PLing at the time, or I may not have enjoyed it so much. It had 4 floors, several pools, indoor and outdoor tennis, basketball, volleyball, freeweight room, outdoor trail, an outdoor agility course....tons of cool stuff. Plus I could go to any Y in the country if I needed to travel.

Great news...
How many YMCA's are in your area ?
There are like 15 within 20 miles of me and with my
ALL Y membership, I can use any one of them depending on what I want to do..

Swim indoors
BBall
Lift
racquetball
cardio

When you travel, most Y's across the country will let you use the facilities either free or dirt cheap for a few days by showing your card.

The Y in my area was packed with cardio machines and thats what everyone used, but if you look real hard back in the far corner you'd find the free weights area. Small section no power rack two benchs one flat one inclinded sad very very sad ..... excuse me ..... :bawling:

I go to the Y and they have TONS of equipment...

1 Incline
1 decline
2 flats
1 smith
1 power rack
1 seated calve
1 cable rack
2 preachers
5 bench

machines galore, too many to list, and the cardio machines..tonz!

The Ymca here in Anderson Indiana is awesome. All rubber floors, tons of hammer strength lifts, dumbells, power rack, benches, leg presses, cardio room, etc. VERY NICE

I like the Y here.....it's pretty well equiped and it's never really croweded.....I agree the staff sucks, they don't know about lifting at all.
