MGF's 2006 Log

*Bunny* said:
It's really based on your goals & what works FOR YOU ... you will read D'ont eat fat before bed ... don't eat carbs before bed ... don't eat within 2 hours of bedtime , etc ...

It's all subjective & matters WHO you talk too ... a slow digesting protein source before bed is also a good option, not FAT & only fat per se ...

So true.

Good morning Gettinfit06 and Scorpiogirl ;) :coffee:

Well I hope today is better than yesterday. I went to the gym last night and my energy level and strength was nonexistant. I didn't even get halfway through my workout. I came home and slept all night and could have slept in longer this morning but my little girl says NO WAY MOM!!! Soooo I'm up and at em. I still feel a little sluggish but not as bad. I hope I'm not getting sick. Could be alergies who knows :whatever:

Meal plans for today:

M1 - 1 container light yogurt, pp,1 oz almonds,water, 2 mugs coffee, + vitamins + supps.

M2 - 1/2 C oatmeal w/ 1 scoop pp, slenda,water

M3 - 4 oz broiled chicken breast diced up in 2 C romaine lettuce,1 tbs light Italian,water

M4 - 1/2 C low fat cottage cheese, 1/2 C green seedless grapes,water

M5 - I think I'm gonna make roasted skinless boneless chicken breast rubbed down with garlic and paprika, brown rice made in low fat low sodium chicken broth, green beans. And I'm making some sugar free pudding cups with sugar free pudding with chocolate flavor pp mixed in and fat free whipped topping. you just layer it in the cups pudding, whipped topping and so on for equal of one layer of puddingk one layer of whipped topping and one layer of pudding. My kids love this!!!

M6 - left over 4 oz chicken, green beans.

My hubby will be here with my 2 youngest. I take that back ok so I'm dropping him off as he's has to be there at 5:15 and over around 7pm so I think I'm going to run up and do just cardio and go tanning then go back and watch him practice.

Friday,3/24

It's going to be another crazy day for me. Busy busy busy!!! My oldest tells me last night he's going out for the football team for next school year. I'm like ok. He's really good so I know he's going to make or should I say actually play and not be a bench warmer. So I go from track to a brief rest to taking both boys for physicals and preseason practice in June, rest and regular practice starts in August. I'll have both of my sons on the same team. Makes it easier to get to watch them both and cheer them on. :) On top of that my little girl starts gymnastics this summer and peewee cheerleading squad. Ugh,but I'd rather them stay active then be a lazy couch potato.

So today I have to run to the bank to make a deposit,I have tons of laundry to get done before 3pm. I have to cook up dinner really early and pack some of it my oldest has a meet tonight and I have to pick him and God only knows who else up @ 3:15 this afternoon and get them to the track by 3:30 pm. Dinner or M4 or 5 will be at the track. To top it off it's gonna be freaken cold out tonight. 29* :worried: . I'm taking blankets, gloves, hot green tea, and gonna bundle up as much as I can.

Meal plan for today......

M1 - 1 container light yogurt, 1 scoop pp,1 oz almonds, 2 mugs coffee, 1/2 gallon water + vitamins + supps

M2 - cut up some leftover chicken and toss in a salad w/ 1 tbs light Italian, water

M3 - Protein shake,water

M4 - more than likely gonna be eating this at the track. Seasoned chicken breast seasoned with Mrs. Dash diced up and cooked in a little bit of light extra virgin olive oil, brown rice and broccoli, mix it and eat it.

M5 - I'm going to take the stuff to mix up a protein shake and chug it b/c I don't think we will be home yet. THey usually last until almost 10 pm at times. Depends on how many schools are there.

Before I go to bed I'll chomp down 1 oz almonds.

No gym tonight tomorrow for sure!!!

Are your sons lifting? How old are they?

No not yet. My oldest turned 13 in November my youngest is only 10 will be 11 in July. My oldest asked me to get him some weights to start lifting, I'm going to get him some but before I let him touch them I'll make sure he's got his form down. He's a big boy for his age he's between 5 ft 8 and 5 ft 9 inches over 140 lbs but not fat he's tall and lean but not to skinny. Huge hands and feet the kid is in size 10.5 in mens. My youngest boy is just starting in his spurts of growth and he's already up to my nose and I'm 5 ft 7 inches. Both are gonna be big boys. Then I got my little girl she's so tiny. LOL

It feels weird to do this, but I'm going to recommend a book I've never read. I'm recommending it because the PEOPLE that have recommended it are ones I deeply trust and respect. It is called "Starting Strength" by Mark Rippetoe. It is up high on my list of books to purchase and read. It can be found at www.startingstrength.com and I do NOT make any money by recommending it!!! LOL! :)

Anyway, without knowing him or his maturity level, I think your 13 year old is ready to learn the movements. What do you think?

Thanks! He's a pretty level headed boy and already naturally strong so I think he will pick up on this pretty easily. I think he's ready. He is already doing pushups, crunches, squats, lunges,on top of sprints, high knees, skip sprints and things with his track team. I love the coaches they really keep these kids in line and it's not an easy task with a bunch of 6th graders on the team,if they give them any beef they have to drop and give them 10 and not sissy pushups. Now he's not added any weights to his squats or lunges and they do walking lunges not stationary soooooo yes I think he is ready. I just need to make him up a beginner workout and guide him through it. I already talk to him about nutrition and how important it is for training and just life in general. He is really understanding it and asking alot of questions which I gladly answer to the best of my abilities. He says he respects me for what I do and how hard I work so that shows me he's watching and hopefully learning.

Hey MGF!!! Whew....I had to go back FOUR PAGES to get caught up on your log - but I'm all good now. Your diet is lookin' really good! ...and that roasted chicken you were talking about :p :p :p

Hope all is well on the homefront! Stay warm tonight!!!

Thanks. I have to be their best supporter, We are all our kids have and if we are not there for them someone else will move in and that could be a very very bad thing. My goal is to keep all 3 of them on the right path in life through open minded and support. Some of the stuff my boys come to me about I'm like GULP :worried: But I'm just happy they can talk so freely with me.

You have a really busy life! I love it, I took my girls toboganning today and to the park and while I was at the swings I was thinking to myself, that I hope I always remember these times! This is what is all about. I am glad to hear that your boys can come to you. My boys are 11(going on 16) and 10 and I know it has only just begun.

I get them at walmart...in the pharmacy isle

Thanks Aries I'll pick up some,we have another meet Wednesday night.

My boys are 11(going on 16) and 10 and I know it has only just begun.

Ck2006, I think the most important thing is to start now, keep the doors open and let them know that they need not be afraid to be open with you. What I did with my boys is well you know you can read when something is wrong with them, I would approach them and ask what is wrong and of course they are tight lipped so I keep on. Then add you know you can talk to me about anything and if this is something you are afraid to tell me don't b/c what you tell me in our free talks is not something I will ever hold against you or use against you. They sometimes would not talk to me then and I would say ok I"m not going to force you to talk to me but if you need to talk I'm here for you. I walk away and later they come to me and we talk.

That is a good thing to have, if I ever have kids, I hope that type relationship will exist ...

Oh Bunny I believe you will, your a pretty cool lady and your kids or kid will be blessed to you as a momma.

Saturday,3/25

Well the meet went well, I froze my butt off. It was so freaken cold and this irritating drizzle wouldn't stop. So picture this......a line of track mom's sitting on blankets on metal bleachers, with umbrellas, heavy coats, hats, gloves, and numerous blankets and still freezing. Our kids were so cold it was sick. They had the track sweats but when they came to run or do an event they had to strip down to their uniforms, tanks and shorts very very thin. My boy was in the maximum amount of event allowed per meet there was only a couple of the kids that was like this so they had to strip down more often. He had to do the 75 shuttle hurdle relay and b/c it was sooooo cold out I do believe he pulled a ligament on his hip flexer on his right side. He was in some pretty major pain afterward. He finished his last event and was sooo pissed. He was in the 4x100 relay and was first leg, they do this in order from fastest first and last well he took off and handed to baton and the kid he handed it to took of to soon and then dropped it. They got disqualified. He was sooooooo angry. Don't blame him I would be too.

Then my hubby called me and told that his cousin he's really close to him and I went to high school with him was in a very very bad car wreck yesterday and that he's been life flighted to the University Hospital and is ICU today. We are going to be heading there very soon. I'll let you all know how he's doing once we find out.

It's hard for anyone to compete at their potential with ice sicles hanging from their noses!!! Hope the hip flexor is healing.

I'm sorry to hear about hubby's cousin. One of my fave clients just lost her niece in an accident a couple of weeks ago. I hope he's able to pull through.

I'll be thinking of you.....

Wow, well I had forgotten about track meets in the "spring". Cold weather sux. I vote we move to Jamaica and build a commune where we do nothing but prepare clean food, do cardio, train, sleep and get massages from hunky Swedish massage therapists named Sven. We could support ourselves with our hot bod / bikini contest winnings.

All sorts of thoughts & karma for good and fast healing for the family.

Update on hubby's cousin........

He's out of icu and in a regular room. He's on oxygen and some other stuff lots of pain meds. He has a hard time breathing. We are still not sure what happened for sure all we know right now is that he hit the back of a rig the rig is ok but his company van is totaled he hit the steering wheel and broke it in half and off the streering column. He has a massive bruise on his chest. Many many prayers and well wishes are going his way.

Thank you all for your well wishes they are much appreciated and needed.

Thank you guys

Sunday,3/26

Another busy day ahead of me today. We are have to pick up my youngest son from a friends house he spent the night, then take my oldest to his girlfriends house for her birthday party but first we have to go and get her something. Then we are meeting my hubby's parents to drop off the last 2 kids we have and then go pick hubby's cousin a WVU hat he's wanting then go see him. He's able to talk more now so we are gonna go visit him for a short time. He still tires out quickly but these are good signs. They are talking about letting him go as early as tomorrow, but I'm just not sure if that's a good idea or not.

I just want to relax some!!!! I miss the gym so freaken bad I can't stand it.

Sounds like cousin is on the road to recovery - GREAT! Someone was watching over him!

Maybe tomorrow things will start to calm down for you. Can you take a nice long bubble bath tonight and start to chill a little? Just get your bearings and take some deep breaths?

I went out for few late in the morning and got my little girl registered for preschool. I feel happy but yet sad about this. I know it's going to be a good thing for her as she's never been away from me for very long and I can use the me time but that's still my baby. :bawling:

I so know how you feel my daughter said to me that she never wanted to go to school and wanted to stay with me forever, but when we move to the new house we are putting her in preschool because she really wants friends. Look at it as good social interaction for her before she starts school. I was watching a cartoon and the character was going to school for the first time. I looked at my daughters and almost started crying thinking about them going to school, ahhhh, hang in there, and just think it's a good thing! :)

Same here but it still feels like a huge chore and not something I enjoy in the least. I know I need to go out and get some summer workout clothes and new shoes for me and hubby buttttt I keep putting it off.

Well I'm back from the store now. I still have to put the stuff up. UGH! I spent almost 200 and believe it or not I'll more than likely be doing that again next week. Oy a family of 5 is expensive. I read online about this lady that has like 7 kids still living at home so that's 9 including her and her hubby and they spend like less than 500 a month on food. Hell I hit that in like 2 weeks. Makes me sick!

However, I gave her an emotional b-day card yesterday and she did have a tear in her eye.....so it's not ALL bad!! lol

Enjoy them while they're young........ :)

It is horrible how much peer pressure is in schools today with JUNK food. Almost every kid has it and if you are the kid that doesn't, you feel left out or deprived - it is sickening!!! :worried:

:eek2: Busy morning, Moms! I hope you have a good day and you aren't too wiped out by the end!

Morning girl! So far so good I'm making really good time. I'm going to do some more laundry and clean up the house and then get things packed for the meet tonight. I'm making the kids turkey on whole wheat to eat and some fruit. There is about 4 or 5 tack moms that prepare food for the kids. ALot of them come so hungry and no money or food to eat,no parents to cheer them on and we are the adopted mom's if you will. LOL

Ok someone please tell me why is that when you go in the pay your property taxes there is always someone there that is cussing and fighting with the clerks b/c they have not paid their taxes in X amount of years and is pissed at them when they should be pissed at themselves. UGH!

Well while I was out this morning I got a phone call and I GOT THE JOB!!! I start the 10th 8 to 5 it's gonna make my schedule more difficult but until hubby starts his new job making the big bucks then I gotta do this. I have to an interview with a day care center here for my daughter tomorrow morning. I think I'm more nervous about that than the job. LOL

Ahhh, this was ME growing up. My parents were Shaklee Supervisors. We didn't have cookies, chips, cake, ice cream - ANY of it. I grew up eating ANPB too!

I was probably the only 12 year old kid taking 20 vitamins in the AM, and 20 in the PM. (I flushed them down the toilet sometimes because I got sick of taking them). I'm now one of the healthiest people I know. I RARELY get sick. Haven't been sick for YEARS.

Hmmm, let's see if I can remember them all....Vita Lea (multi), B-12, C, E, Lecithin, Calcium Magnesium, Zinc, Alfalfa, Beta Carotine....a couple of one, a few of another....adds up to 20 pretty easily! lol

I agree. But then that's why we have so many fat kids now,to much junk and not enough moving.

My kids rarely get junk. That's why they all got happy when they found out I made some cookies. And then they it's not a free for all.

LOL that sounds like my household. Even when I occassionally make "junk" I make them from scratch and I don't use sugar or butter. I use splenda or juice crystals, whole wheat flour (or soy) and I use applesauce in place of butter. My kids eat them and don't complain a bit now if another child is here and tries something sweet here they can tell the difference only b/c they are so use to stuff that is loaded with sugar and fats.

Thursday,3/30

It's going to be in the 70's today and sunny. YEAH!!!!!

Last nights meet went well. It was cold but not as cold as it was last Friday. I found out that the track he a slick glaze over it due to the mist and cold and a kid on another team fell and broke his arm. I'm sooooo glad that my son didnt fall like that. He does sprints and he was in the shuttle hurdle relay thank God he didn't fall.

My hubby finally got to see him run last night and was officially impressed. My boy has improved so much since last year. Now we need to build some muscle on the boy and he's will be the awesome!!! Not that he's not already!

buttt one said note....... he was in the 4x200 a sprint relay. Now if I was the coach I would take the fastest strongest kids on the team and put in the sprint events. There is like 6 really fast kids on the team and she stuff a slow kid in a sprint relay. He fumbled at first then took off, my boy was anchor and he took off like a bat out of hell and caught up with the pack but was so far behind they came in like second to last. Then she put him in the 800 which is 2 laps around. He's not strong in distance but he kicked ass last night. He came in 5th. For a kid that doesn't do distance running that's good.

Ok enough bragging. LOL

M1- protein smoothie,1 mug coffee,1/2 gal. water,vitamins,supps

I have to take my daughter to the day care facility today for a walk through and for her to meet her teachers and for me to sign the needed papers.

M2 - 1 boca burger patty,1 C green beans, water

wooohoooo we get to go to the gym tonight!!!!

Sounds like the boy is doing very well! Awww, a doting mom!

Hope your night at the gym went or is going well!
