Metabolism?

I have noticed that everyday I go to eat one bowl of cereal or just have a small meal and I end up eating a hell of a lot more then the planned bowl of cereal and what not. I am never full. Last week I tested this and went to a resturant that serves a 30oz burger with fires, I ate that and could have had dessert if I really wanted to (no more money after the 15 dollar burger). I dont know if I have a high metabolism or not because I dont maintain a weight but I am never full?? Can someone help me out?

One thing that can work in this situation (other than diet changes/reduced calories) is drinking much more water than your used to. It will give you a fuller feeling.

Diet wise - high fibre diets also fill you up without creating more health complications. Increase your protien intake (you get fuller quicker), and reduce your sugars and fats (particularly saturated ones). Drinking tea is good for your heart, but also the caffiene in it can reduce hunger feelings.

That's all the general advice. If you want really good advice you need to post:

Age
Height
Weight (in lbs)
Body fat % - see here http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html
Everything (and I mean everything) you eat in a day
Your current goals

What you can also do is try and hold off your hunger for as long as you can- possibly hours- this will shrink your stomach- when you go to eat later on- you'll find you cant eat as much as you usually would. If you do that for a week you'll be on your way to a much smaller appetite. Word of the wise, if you begin to feel sick- eat right away- and make sure you hydrate the intire time (H20 to avoid caloric intake). Hope that helps.

I dont mind eating alot, I am just wondering if its my metabolism or what, I mean if I can eat a 30oz cheeseburger with fries and still possibly eat more is this a metabolism thing or a stomach size situation? I do eat a good amount of peanuts each day (4g dietary fiber for each 1oz serving). I also drink lots of milk (close to a gallon a day)

Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 180-185 (depending on the day)
Age: 15
What I ate today:
1) Big bowl of cereal with a good amount of milk. 2 glasses (16oz) of milk to go with it.
2) 2 turkey sandwiches (2 pieces of bread and one slice of american cheese on each, also a little mayo)
3) Peanut butter crackers
4) About half a pound of peanuts honey roasted
5) Protein bar (21g, after workout snack)
6) Pasta w/ meat dinner

I just got off of my weight loss diet (my plan is to lose fat and then come back with more muscle instead of what fat I did have and adding onto that.) But I weighed 158 about month ago so I gained about 30 pounds in just over a month. (obviously because I was eating under 2000 calories a day then and now I probably get close to 5000.

You are 15 years old. Of course you are going to eat like that, you're a teenager and all teens eat like that.

eat slowly, there is about a 15 minute difference between you being full, and the signal reaching the brain. So most peopl over eat for 15 minutes

You are young.

EAT.

) Big bowl of cereal with a good amount of milk. 2 glasses (16oz) of milk to go with it. Milk (you need this) but + Cereal carb carb sugar sugar
2) 2 turkey sandwiches (2 pieces of bread and one slice of american cheese on each, also a little mayo) Lunch meat, cheese, bread, mayo ... PROCESSED
3) Peanut butter crackers It's not all natural peanut butter = more sugar, crackers = not a great carb
4) About half a pound of peanuts honey roasted
5) Protein bar (21g, after workout snack)
6) Pasta w/ meat dinner Im going to assume this is not whole wheat pasta or something of that nature ...

Other than the fact you're young & still growing probably with a voracious appetitie ... I can see why you're hungry. I see alot of things you are eating without susbtance to fill you up, namely poor carb choices. My only suggestion is to back off the processed foods and high carb choices, or choose BETTER ones, healthy carbs of the complex and fibrous variety - NOT the white/sweet carbs. Since that will most likely not happen with a teenager, try to use them in moderation.
