I read a whole story about that lift in I think Powerlifting USA. It happened quite some time ago. From what I understand the guy came back to squat 600+lbs. Mans got balls, you have to give him that.

Yeh. I am happy he is alive, that fall was nasty.

that was not 600 it was 733 at 198. when he backed out he hit the rack because it was setup to high so when he got time to setup his leg just snapped. he already had a fracture there so doing that just made it worst.
now hes back and he hit a 925 at 276.
Thats one hell of a come back.
being a powerlifter doesnt mean that your gonna get a injury like this one did. a bodybuilder can snap his leg doing leg presses, or hack squats, ive seen a track run break his femur bone running and he tripped and Snap Crackle Pop. there it goes.
You just have to becareful

injuries

Freak 19 was correct about this one...I knew the guy that injured himself, like freak said, he allready had a fracture. I was on the national level went to the senior nationals a couple of times in the 80,s, hit 2 meets a year from 84-92..never had a serious injury, converted to bodybuilding, still trainined very heavy, like i was still powerlifting, but just added in the bodybuilding execises...a little over a year ago, i tore my patella tendon loose, my knee cap and quad rolled up into my thigh, i was playing in a semi pro football league at that time...Im back now, training just as heavy...I have buddies now that are in there late 40,s and have been powerlifting since there 20,s and go to www.irondawg.com, this guy, LB baker, is in his 60,s has been competing since he was in his 20,s! My point is, you can get injured stepping off a curb!! Just be smart with training!!!

Go Away SSALEXSS truly i dont knwo you at all and in real life you might be cool but i see the posts on the training forum and there are some reallly experienced powerlifters that look here and post here and i dont want your shit or stupid (you think) educated researched bull shit here. So leave you are not welcome here. If you came to my house and i said you were not welcome you would leave right? Pretend you are there. There are 105 posts to your stupid thread and you have got threats and been told to fuck off. Take a hint and go back to the training forum.

Guys DONT REPLY TO ANYTHING OF HIS!

JP FUX == the bodybuilder, recently tore both quads and collapsed while squatting with 695lbs during a FLEX photoshoot. So it is not just PLers who incurr these fucked up (and extremely rare) accidents/injuries. Apparently, one of the quads tore completely off of the knee (all 4 heads). There is a thread w/ pics on anabolex. These pics were taken at the gym by the FLEX photographer, so it is not a false "squat injury" like the one suffered by that Jason Marcovici guy a few years ago (when he was kneecapped and hospitalized due to an unpaid debt). Bad shit can happen when you fuck up with a barbell on your back. Hell, I know a guy who was pretty damned stong that herniated a disc while warming up with 315 for a set of 10. He lost his balance for a split second and tilted to the left when he came up on the 8th or 9th rep and really hurt himself. This guy was doing work sets of 520 for 5 reps and could deadlift over 600 at the time. Like some other guys said-- accidents can happen so be careful when training.

Ok, ok, you guys can stop slapping me around. I was at least close to right. And I still think the man has some major courage to get back under a heavy bar.
