I think clean bulking is great... but bulking shouldn't be torturous or you're not gonna be motivated when the true torture of cutting comes along.

Priority one should be get the calories you need, priority two should be have them be from good sources.

Brown rice can be seasoned with any ms. dash flavor, and also when mixed with veggies and meats, absorbs some of their flavor.. so make sure you do that.

One thing I like to do with brown rice is mix it with the small size of the tomato sauce I suggest below, and a package of ground turkey or ground chicken... makes a very good meal(s).

As for pasta: Cut up some tomato, add some extra virgin olive oil (Great healthy fat - but don't go crazy)), and as little balsamic vinagrette as possible (only 13 cals per table spoon). You can't go wrong.

Another idea you can sprinkle on some lemon and a little bit of parmeson cheese

If you have to use tomato sauce, I personally recommend the small, trial size version of Classico Tomato & Basil. Solid nutrition values... and also the fact that it is a small jar prevents you from using too much and YES, it is enough to use on a whole box of pasta for sure.

As for the pasta brand... check out some of the whole wheat high protein varieties, such as Hogdson Mill's Organic line.

Hope these tips helped.

Okay thansk for the advice! My sister has a diet book with a few sauces in it, so i'll try them also, but im not sure i'll like them.

What about special drinks, you know like sports drinks. I see them mentioned in pretty much every diet but notthing specific. The only one I know off is Lucozade Sport. Im not sure if thats good or not.

Some people use gatorade (or powerade) in their post-workout shake as a carb source with whey protein.

I wouldn't drink any similar type of sports drinks throughout the day.... If you mean protein shakes or meal replacement..on a bulk i really like cytogainer. There is also musclemilk, Optimum Nutrition and about a million others that and everyone will recommend something different. Find a good one with not too much sugar and u should be good to go.

Try cooking your brown rice in low sodium chicken or vegetable broth instead of water.......A good meal is any combo of rice/pasta + a protein (ground turkey, ground chicken, chicken, ground beef or beef, etc) + veggies.....

I also like to make a stirfry: Put a fry pan on high heat & add a bit of cooking spray & broth & saute whatever veggies you like (broccoli, carrots, snow peas, peppers, onions, etc) then add X amount of cooked rice & cooked meat & 2 or so egg whites & saute. Spice with a touch of rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, spicy chile sauce.....

Red wine vinegar is good on green beans.....

There are a lot of sauce/spice mixes in the grocery store that are SF or "low carb" (low carb cuz of reduced sugar)....you can also buy/find Walden Farms dips & Steel's Gourmet sauces that are quite tasty also....

Ive been working out my new diet for the past couple of hours. I have all my figures worked out but I cant get the food to fit with the figures. getting meals with the right amount of carbs, protein and fats is ridiculously difficult. Is there anywhere that does this kinda thing for a living on the internet so I can tell them details and they will sort it all out for me?

www.fitday.com

spend a couple days putting all the foods u'll regularly use from your fridge and cabinets into it as new custom foods.... then keep a calorie goal in mind, and as u eat you'll know how much u have left.. for example if u have 500 calories left to eat today and you'll gotten very few fats in...I know my next snack will include almonds or ANPB or olive oil, etc. That's what works for me, I'm sure others use it in a more of a pre-planning kind of way. Check it out.

Try this on your rice.
Buy the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray."
Don't spray it, but unscrew the cap and poor some on your rice. It gives it that simply buttery taste and no fat. I love scarfing down my parboiled rice with this. I may use some chicken broth as well to cook the rice in. If you're concerned about sodium use it sparingly with more water.
I'm not concerned with sodium because I workout 6 days a week and sweat like a beast. I use chicken broth straight up, dehydrated onion (purchased at Costco in bulk) and let this all cook in my rice cooker. Once done I scoop out a serving and THEN I put the butter spray on the rice. Don't cook with this fat free butter alternative. It doesn't work like butter. It's simple and it's tasty. Try it and let me know if you like it or not.
Enjoy!
