Longest layoff from lifting?

What is the longest layoff anyone has taken from the gym? If it was a extended time; how long did it take to get back to shape? Just wondering, I'm getting back from my longest layoff due to medical issues. Thanks.

I just took off for 3 1/2 mo. for personal reasons and I just got back in the gym today...feel like crap. I was benching 275 6 reps unassisted. I could only do 205 today :(

I took 5 months off b/c of an infection in my delt (ttokkyo of course), I felt like shit for the 1st 2 weeks but now I'm back up to 293lbs.(this morning)-I'm taking FINA and test and I feel fucking phenominal

I'm sorry , I felt bad because I had 6 weeks off. I lost about twenty ponuds altogether. Ten from the 6 off, ten from the knee blowout. I come back today also.

What sukz is when you just come off a cycle and have to spend all of your time moving your ass to another town to go to college. Then when you move you have to get your schedule down, school, work, study, all kinds of shit. I ended up taking about a month and a half off, lost most of my gains:bawling:
suckz could have used the extra poundage

whiskey

I am one of those stupid fuckers who SHOULD take time off to let his body heal...of course, I just find creative ways to get around injuries.

I lost 3 months overall due to an L4-L5 double herniation--OW!

I was doing leg presses 3 days after rotator cuff surgery--in all I had to take 6 weeks off upper body and 8 months off chest.

I bought bondage cuffs whan I broke my hand so I could hook myself up to the cable crossover machine and still do chest--no back or bis for 2 months.

I have to have knee surgery in the next couple of weeks and will continue to train my upper body to the best of my abilities--it will be a few months before I hit legs again.

Perhaps I SHOULD take some time off, before I HAVE to take some time off.

Dude...there's something called being tough, then there's something called stupid. What you're doing isn't the smartest thing. I'd really relax before you permantly have to.

A few years ago I took a year off I guess I needed a change. But when I came back the gains were great and still gaining now :)
