Damn. I never thought about it. But, now that I do, I've never heard anything while the weight is moving during that rep(like you said, despite the cranked tunes). I get all fired up with the best part of a song, grab the bar, then that's it...nothing.
it's exactly the same for me.

I thought i was the only special one here:( , it is weird my friends all talk during their lifts and right after, but when I go I can't hear them and can't talk right after because I am trying to catch my breath

I can sometimes hear my training partner as he compares me to his mom...I hate that as she is off the boat Polish and I cant compete with that...

If you are going HEAVY, I would say a serious 5 reps or under, than talking during a set is impossible. The same ones talking are probably answering cell phone calls between sets, etc. get serious.

I can't here anything. All I can see is me performing the exercise. In my head I think about how the muscle works and how to control a heavy weight.

I love bodybuilding!!!

When I am doing 8 to 10 rep sets then sometimes I can talk, but when I'm going heavy with low reps I zone out and just grunt and yell.

When I locked out my latest and biggest dead and turned to my partner and started talking shit to him while I squeezed by traps good and hard though :D
