Ipod vs. 30 gig Nomad

I've heard that the .wma conversion makes the file loose quality tough, is this true?

most of my music files are low budget rock and roll recordings to begin with

fuck it I decided to just open it and give it a try for a few days. If I like I'll keep it, if not I'll exchange it

depends what bit the WMA's are; you probably want 192.

So far I've installed the software and loaded some songs, it's still charging though so I haven't used it yet.

One thing I don't like so far is that it wont let me create new folders inside the drive, everything gets dumped into the playlist folder. If you have a directory, with sub directories on it it strips the folders and just dumps the files in the playlist. I have a directory named Albums and inside that I have sub-directories which have all the CD's I've ripped, a lot of these cd's don't have track info, every thing is labeled track 01, track 02, etc... When I tried copying the entire directory into the player, after copying one album without track info I get "track 01 already exists, do you want to repalce it?" It will take me forever to edit and add track info to all those files. Does the Ipod have this same problem?

not at all... i have a bunch of track 1s and stuff... iPods take into consideration the song name, band name, album name, etc... and classify it thusly. It automatically sorts it into every possible directory, so you can search for songs in album/band/song name catagories. Plus you can create your own multiple playlists, so for instance i have workout1 workout2 and workout3... so when i go to the gym, i clicked 2 buttons and ive got my own preselected workout mix blasting away

I spent a rather laborious week editing id3 tags so I could sort music by genre or group name easily....well worth it.
