it's 11pm and I need some carbs and I'm too lazy to cook it so I tried eating it raw. doesn't taste too bad. it's like cereal. it's not going to get me sick is it?

also I was going to just mix it with a protein shake and drink it but I thought if I chewed it, it would give me more nutrients. true or false?

i love eating oatmeal "raw". I usually put some slenda in it, add milk and go at it. if you need more protein put in a scoop in your bowl to add some chocolate flavor! Its also good when you blend it in a shake, though it raises the GI of it (slightly).

I mean I don't even chew it, I just throw a couple spoons in my mouth and down it with some water. Fills me up but I don't know if my stomach is getting the nutrients out of it like this.

yeah dude, it's all good. your body will still break the oats down and process them properly. you cook them only to make them more palatable and easier to chew. in fact, they are probably better for your body 'raw' than they are cooked.

(now if you notice that your stool has a bunch of oat groats in it, you're obviously not breaking them down properly and need to cook them first).

i dump uncooked steel cut oats in my protein shake first thing in the morning and gulp it down :d

if you pour some milk on them and let it sit for about 5 minutes they get real soft and easy to chew. tastes pretty good actually! Just dont let them get soggy, then they taste like shit again.

The main part of my diet is raw carrots and slow cooking oatmeal. For some reason this is just about the only food that can keep me completely satisfied. Its possible that the oatmeal expands in the stomach to create a sensation of fullness. Not to mention that by the time you've eaten it, all hunger has surpassed cause it takes so long to eat it!

I do question if it is digested properly, but I have not seen anything strange in my stool. It may be wise idea to do an inspection just in case.
