If U Could Do It Over Again?

How would you change your beginning routines/excersises, etc? Would you focus more on strength? Form? If you were building a body builder from the ground up, how you start him off?

Most important thing would be to eat a lot. 20X bodyweight in calories, and at least 1g protein per lb of bodyweight.

Regarding training, something like DC would be good. I started off with MAX-OT from www.ast-ss.com and had some decent gains in a lot of the musclegroups.

I would have never read "muscle and fiction" of "flex"

I would have eaten like a horse all through my teens instead of spending my greatest growth years 17,18,19 at 6-8 percent bf

I would have never had a six pack

I would have never done cardio

I would not have spent the countless hours on the eliptical and the track jogging

I would have spent above mentioned time sprinting and working on agilities

I would have never bought a supplement besides protein and water

I would have started reading these boards right away

I would have never listened to old out of shape gym rats who all seem to know how to get huge but none are.....

I think it has just about been covered.

In my case, I would have been more careful with my shoulders. Once those are F-ed up... it Fs everything up.

I would have concentrated on bench, squats, and deadlifts for at least the first year and forgotten about curls.

Also, I would have eaten at least twice as much. I always lifted but never ate much and wondered why I didn't grow... so dumb.

Great response IL as always. I would have not played football and concentrated on lifting.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Good thread topic. I just started a few months ago, but I always neglected shoulders because of weak RCs. And I wasn't eating anything at all...I know my errors though so that's a good thing. I also would have started younger. Anyway I'm doing something about each of those problems :), not so hard to fix. But yeah I wish I hadn't neglected my body for all those years.
